Default Ultimate 120 bi-plane

Nitro, I bought one of your Extra 500 models and I am very pleased with the flight characteristics, thanks.

I am looking at the "Ultimate Bi-Plane-120" What are your thoughts about my using my OS 120 AX. Will it be capable of performing pattern flying. I am not interested in 3D and hovering. If you believe the 120 can deliver the necessary power, do you have a manual I can get?. I will be willing to purchase a manual. I would like to observe how the model is constructed. Your thoughts please.

A 1.20 Four Stroker pulls this plane around with authority.

A 1.20 2 Stroke AX would pull it around with gobs of power.

The engine will need to be mounted inverted with a Pitts style muffler given the rake of the cowl.

The pictures show how the model is constructed.
The fuselage is laser cut ply for lightness and strength.
The wings are sheeted at the front.

Cutouts are provided for mounting the tail servos either in the rear or up front ( Pull-Pull ) for best C.G.

It shouldn't be a problem however make sure that the engine is running well before your first flight.

Many people seem to attribute tuning and break-in problems to "low pressure" from the Pitts style mufflers.

I haven't found this to be true, even though I also believed the same thing.

opjose, TNX for the quick reply. I have been flying pattern (VenusII) with the OS 120, well broken-in with approx 75 flights. Battery failure last week, no more Venus! Based on your comment regarding the power of the 120 to be more than sufficient, a lower power output with the Pitts muffler should not be a problem. However, should I consider another type of muffler and if so do you have a recommendation?

Much thanks!

If anything power output should be higher with the Pitts, due to the less restrictive exhaust.

What I'm referring to is that people often think that the Pitts mufflers reduce the pressure differential at the fuel tank, lowering fuel flow.

I have not found that to be the case. If there is a difference, it's normally due to some other factor that needs to be addressed.

A Pitts inverted muffler should work very well for you... consider purchasing the smoke muffler.

I have the Ultimate 120 with a Saito 150 up front. Takeoffs are 1/4 throttle and full bore verticals are unlimited. The 150 is perfect for this model if you plan to do advance acrobatics. The 120 should be fine for general flying.

TNX HARDY. I assume this is the Nitro. If so any problems/tips on assembly?
