Default Bobcat 50 Configuration & Manual?

Hello,

I just bought a used, yet mint condition Bobcat. It has a 51" wingspan, so I suspect it is a Bobcat 50 model?

The former owner had no manual...
The former owner had a thunder tiger 71 on it with a 11x7P pusher prop.

CG?
He has everything in it still, except the receiver and engine. It came with all JR servo's, fuel tank, battery and he claims it was balanced as I see it!!!, he said drop in my engine and receiver and should be just fine, but I want the CG to check it first!!!!!

I am currently mounting an OS copy 65 on it. So what I need, is a manual to verify the CG? Would someone tell me where the manuals are posted or email it to me?

2nd question: I have what they tell me is a OS65 Russian copy: Mutunuc Millennium 65ABC.BB, is this any good? it is brand new, in the box, bought it from a SK fuels rep who never used it and was new in box with muffler and basic mfg sheet.

Prop? The guy who sold me the plane used the 71 thunder tiger with a 11x7P pusher prop, is this the best prop?

Jet flying help???
I fly 3D foamy's, YardBird F22 Foam Jet, nitro 40's, a stupid flying BiPlane that acts ignorant, also a Hanger 9 Tribute, a P51 mustang 25 size, but even so, I am afraid to fly this jet until I check the CG and get a person who has already flown Jets to maden this for me and verify this, I have no idea how a Jet flies or acts or stahl landing speed??? I am hoping to get the Mashion brothers from Lums Pond Delaware to maden this for me tomorrow???

Thanks in advance for any help and direction.

P.S. If the manual is not posted, would somone email it to my address below? thanks

There is a HUGE thread on this plane on the Extreme Speed Prop planes forum.

Check it out!

Hi, I searched for an hour, and I can NOT find the article on this, Help
I am lost or something, the search seems to keep giving me the bobcat electric conversion, nothing I can find for the Prop motor Bobcat 50 manual and CG points?

I have a 65 engine mounted, but I need CG points and recommended prop sizes.

Help, how does this search forum work?

Help
Thanks

There is a LOT of discussion there about C.G., engines to use, and check out my posts about setting up Spoilerons, which IMHO are essential.

Also note the AOA issue and fixes.

Oh, c'mon you really didn't look in that thread did you?

Page 100 gives you the info you want.

You really want to go through that thread, as we talk about spoilerons, throws and all the other things you should be mindful off.

This plane is not for beginners too btw. It is an intermediate to advanced flyer, and gets VERY "mushy" when it flies slow as there is no air being pushed over the control surfaces by the prop.

Great, I found it on page 100, wow, I had NO idea i had to go into a thread a hundred pages, yiks...
how did you find it 100 pages in, is there a trick to finding keywords hundred of pages into a forum thread?
So, this was great help on many fronts, from CG, props, servo's, landing speeds, high AOA for landing, great stuff, thanks a million.

A "Search this thread" turned it up quickly... ( lower RIGHT HAND box after you are in the thread... ).

Yup, which is why I pointed you there. Many things to watch out for, especially if you are new to this type of plane.

OK, here we go....
maybe 3 weeks ago 16" fuel line gave a flame out at 20 feet off the ground, wow, landed hard and bent landing gear...
Then maybe 1 to 2 weeks ago, I ended up cutting in a custom window to install a 2oz header tank, and it seems to have solved the problem!!!

Then finally this latest news!!!!
Finally, after weeks of one issue after another(stahlled on take off and broke nylon screws and bent landing gear, then wind storm last week and afraid to maiden, then my only Jet flier not able to make it), But we finally got it into the air for the first time this eve, my 3D buddy did the maiden for me. we did very well. He took off and flew and did some stunts which had me a wreck...because I don't trust those 4 little nylon screws, but afraid to use metal screws because if there is a hard hit incident like the flame out last time, the only thing that broke was the nylon screws....

So anyway, he gave it to me and it seems more touchy to me than my other planes??? the 5 to 10 mph wind seems to make it subbenly lift or fall or seemingly cause a quick 1/4 roll sort of like I just hit the ailerons, but I didn't, so i have to fight her back, then landing was scary, it seems 20 times more touchy that my other planes, it will jump up real quick on up elevator on low rates, yuk... so it seems to take some real perfect fingers to not glich and over steer....

My third low pass at high speed caught some wind and it flipped up to a 1/4 left roll and drove it down at same time and my left wing tip just touched the top of the grass and scared us all at the same time... wow, they all thought there were seeing a discentegrated plane, but thank God it didn't catch and destroy it... man, that made me shake....

Then on my second landing, I got a slight down draft and I pulled back on the stick a little too much and it seemly caused it to drive harder in the grass landing strip and broke both rear landing gear wheels off, crap.... BUT at least the plane survived... so I am heading out to garage right now to bend new matching landing gear from the 3 foot spring steel rod I bought from the hobby shop this eve, I think it is 3/32" spring rod...

I also bought the hobby radius bending dies to put in vise, so they said heat red hot and bend, then heat and put into cold water asap to reharden it...?

NOTE: when it flamed out a few weeks back, the dead stick landing did bend the landing gear back about half way, so bending them back plus the other guy who owned it for years bending them, they seemed to break right off clean on my landing this eve, they seemed to break right off very easily...

My buddy said forget flaps and just use elevator, but DANG, that thing is hot and touchy, so scary for me still....

I wonder if I can use flaps to slow this hot plane down so I can land it slower and easier? OR will it stahl and roll and crash on me?

Thanks to all for the input thus far, keep it coming
Thank you

Because of it's swept wings and pusher configuration, the Bobcat will get mushy and uncontrollable if it gets too slow with flaps.

You need to keep the speed up to permit air to go over the control surfaces, giving you control.

Your best bet is to setup up a spoileron mix.

This increases the glide slope angle so the plane drops more quickly and does not tend to bounce all down the runway.

That permits you to bring it in hotter, but quickly kill off speed once it is down, by holding the nose up.

The end result is a VERY jet like landing, where the rear wheels touch down, and you end up holding nose up until it drops by itself as the speed bleeds off.

Sent you a PM about the Spoileron mix and servo questions. All I have are Std Size servos and have HiTec 605 on the Ailerons. Larry
