Default Exceed Blazing Star

I have purchased an Exceed Blazing Star and flew for the first time. I flew the heli about an inch off the ground for about 5 minutes. I shut down and turned the hand control in the off position and laid it down. 5 seconds later the helicopter accelarated and began flying on its own and eventually crashed. Can anyone help?</p>

Did you turn off the receiver? You should first turn off the receiver, then the transmitter.

ORIGINAL: double D 1963

I shut down and turned the hand control in the off position and laid it down.
Unfortunately that is not how to do it.

You must ALWAYS turn off the plane or heli first, and the transmitter LAST.

This is why people new to RC are advised to seek out a local club and instructor for help.

Never ever turn off the radio while the heli is connected to the battery. Think of it has a master to slave relationship. The slave doesn't know what to do when master is not there.
