Default OS 25 needs more grunt

G'day to all from down under. I have a Sonic 25 trainer, it has an os max 25 motor (recommended size) onboard but it really struggles to get off the ground and climb. I am flying circuits by my self but am a bit worried about learning to take off the way it is. Is there anything I can do to get that little extra?

I am running 10% nitro and a 9x4 or 9x6 prop.

Thanks in advance

Prboz

on planes with a little drag such as a trainer I find the 9x5 works the best, A 9x6 works but tends to load up a little and keep the rpm lower and the 9x4 might not be enough pull so I would try the 9x5 or even a 10x4 for extra thrust.

You also might try a moose can muffler on it it should gain a couple of hundred RPM. I remember seeing the directions for it at this site.

25% nitro gave me a real boost on a weak 40 that my Tiger II had on it. It just barely flew with 10%. With 25% it was no screamer but I didn't feel I would lose it on take off or in the trees before I could climb out.

I don't know about 25% nitro that would be hard on the bearings. I have used 15% in the winter but I would not go that high.
