Default surpass backfire

If the valve lifter is very tight , will the engine backfire? I got this problem after adjusting valve clearance. Also I can't to idle anything smaller then a 14in prop.

If the valves are set too tight, you can certainly get backfiring because the valves won't close all the way. Slightly looser is better.
