OS FS_1.20SIII will run without high speed needle
This motor ran great for several months before it started
to give me fits. Now I'm at wits end.
The fuel pump quit pumping so I replaced the pump, pulled
out the tank, flushed the system and tried it again. Now the
engine will at least run but the high speed needle will not function
properly. It only will lean the motor and not richen it. On one run up
I actually removed the HS needle and the engine kept running on
the lean side. I've cleaned the carb several times expecting to find some
crud , but it's been clean . I doubt the regulator is bad because I was told
if it was the motor wouldn't idle at all.
Any suggestions ?

RE: OS FS_1.20SIII will run without high speed needle
Yesterday I went through the whole rig ,AGAIN.
Reset all the needles ,( 2.5 turns for low end and 3.5 for
the high end). No difference except that for a short time
the motor ran in a pulse mode for a short time. After that
sure enough ,I could once again pull out the high speed needle
and the motor would continue to run.

When you remove the needle, the egnine still runs because it's getting enough fuel to keep going.
As far as needle settings go, we start the engine and then lean it as far as possible without detonation or RPM drop. You basically set the engine as lean as possible without RPM drop on th engine and leave it there.
We're nto sure what you're trying to do. If the engine will not richen, you may be trying to run a too-small propeller. WE n ormally use an APC 15 x 8 propeller and see RPM in the mid-9,000's.

RE: OS FS_1.20SIII will run without high speed needle
I've decided to send it back while it's still covered under the warranty.
I am using a 15/8 prop so that isn't an issue.
I do have another one of these motors that runs ok and this motor will
richen to the point that the motor will die, and it will do this long before
the needle can be removed.
NO response at the high speed needle says "something is wrong"and I
think it's not prop related as you indicate.
Thanks anyway
