I have an old OS .48 4-stroke that is old and tired, it is slowly loosing compression. It is a good engine and I would like to recondition it. Unfortunatly that size hasent been made for a while. Can I boor out the cylinder and use .52 cylinder liner and piston or is .48 parts still available? What are my options? Please help? I bought a specific plane just for this engine and I still want to fly it. Its a .30 size Extra 300 from Yellow Aircraft.

Most parts are still available for this engine. You'll likely need a new ring and possibly a piston. You'd want to lightly scuff the inside of the cylinder liner with 600 grit sandpaper before assembling the egnine.

These parts can be ordered through any hobby retailer who sells O.S. Max engines and accessories.
