Default Engine Mount Help

Hey guys I have a problem I need your help, I just purchase a [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXLYN1&P=ML]Goldberg Edge 540 [/link] with an [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/WTI0001P?&I=LXSY82]O.S. FS-91 II Surpass[/link] The instruction manual state that “Measure from the table to piece of wood and adjust motor until you have 6-1/8” on both sides”
My problem is that my engine mount is too short the engine will not clear the Cowl.
1-Should I cut the Cowl to make it fit?
2-Should I put a piece of wood behind the engine mount to make reach?
3-Is there mount out there that will work for me?
Please help

It's normal to add some structure behind the engine mount to make the engine fit the cowling. Depending upon how much you need to go, you can build a plywood box to extend forward, or stack aircraft plywood. Use epoxy to glue everything together.
