The OS manual indicates the same break in for all its two strokes: 1 minute four cycling and then ten seconds two cycling and 10 seconds four cycling for about a tank of fuel then fly it rich for few flights.
My club engine guy says no way! He suggests heat cycling the engine by running it rich until it is warm and then let it cool and continue that cycling gradually leaning the engine for about a 1/2 gallon of fuel or so. Thoughts?

I believe you need to check with Dar Zeelon on this engine break-in process. Also Dave Gierke
in his book, AIRPLANE ENGINE GUIDE, page80, gives a sample break-in procedure to follow,
for ABC engines, and page 79 for NON ABC engines. Both of these guides will help you make
your engine last a long time.
