Default o.s. o.b. break in

broke in w/ 60% nitro. 2.5 on h.s. needle per inst. w.o.t. per inst. no water restriction. ran 6 tanks & then started to lean needle. ran good @ 1.5 turns. still running cold. ran app. 25 long laps. let cool. compression didn`tfeel right. removed head &button. piston has no pinch @ t.d.c. what did i do wrong to wear out piston/sleeve ?

60% nitro is EXTREMELY high! You don't say how you ran the engine during the 6 tanks' worth of breakin, but if the engine was run too slowly at a too-rich setting, then that's the cause of your engine's difficulty. Also, at 60% nitro, short engine life would be a given. For racing at that level of nitro, we'd not even spend time breaking in the engine. We'd fire it up, get the high-speed needle set to optimum and race...and just accept whatever engine life we got.
