Default What Engine to use ???

Just got a Great Planes Cessna 182 40 ARF..Suggested engines on the box are OS .60FP, OS .65LA, OS FS 52 Surpass and OS FS 70 Surpass. I was thinking of using the OS .61FX non-ringed engine until I found out that the OS .75AX is basicly the same size with same mounting pattern as the .61. Is the .75 too much engine ? If not, what would be the smallest prop I could use...Perhaps you have a better engine suggestion. Thanks Bill M.

G'day Bill,
Great planes suggest the OS 46AX, or the FS70, I personally would not go bigger than the 55AX, this is a 40size Cessna, not a 3D or pattern plane, the 61FX or the 75AX is too much power, IMHO.

According to Great Planes, the largest engine is a .51-size engine. That means that all of the engines you list, except the FS-52 cannot be used. We'd use the .46 FX, the .55 AX (close enough to a .51), or even the .46 LA. The other engines are just too large for the model and would cause problems due to the weight and power of the engines. Those engines belong on other aircraft.
