Default OS46Fx problems

I have an OS46Fx that has few hours on it but was made about 1997. After running flawlessly for a month it lost compression and would not start. I found the cylinder walls were peeling and had scored a piston. After hearing this was a problem with certain engines I replaced the cylinder and piston and the engine was better than new. After running for several hours perfectly it again suddenly became hard to start and then impossible to start, and compression appears to be greatly reduced. No peeling but some scoring. Can running the engine with a fuel line clunk reversed, and experiencing alternate starving and normal running be enough to damage the engine or is there another possible problem? I have 4 other OS engines and none have ever given any problem.

What you should have done was send it back to Hobby Services and they likely would have replace the piston, liner and rear bearing. Perhaps the rear bearing spit out some left over liner bits which could easily score the liner OR your engine ingested something off the runway - it happens.
