Hi Guys,
I have a quick question. I have a brand new OS Max .91 Surpass 4-Stroke engine which I have run 4 tanks fulls of fuel thru it so far. I am putting into a Great Plane (Matt Chapman - Paintball Splatter) Cap580. My question is with the pipe and muffler. Should I use a Silicone Thread locking compound of some sort on the threads or nothing at all? Also how much should I tighten the pipe to the engine and the muffler? Tight or muscle it down good? Will I strip it out if I tighten it too much? Do you have a foot pound rating for tightening it down with a Torque wrench?
Thanks for the info in advance.

You can use a heat-resistant thread-locking compound, but your best bet to keep the muffler on is to support it. It's heavy, and the engine's vibrations will tend to move it around. Support the muffler at its end and you'll do fine. We tighten the exhaust system by hand and get them good and tight...not super-muscled. You CAN strip it if you're too enthusiastic. Remember, the exhaust manifold has a nut that you use to tighten it down once it's threaded into the cylinder head.
