Default .55ax noise

Is it normal to have a knocking pinging noise a upper low- lower mid rpm ranges? Both my .55as do it on my b25, I just wanted to make dure it was a fairly normal. Is there anything I could do to make my motor run better at low steady rpm range? hotter plug? Thanks 871

Default RE: .55ax noise

Sometimes, a clatter at mid-level RPM is due to an exhaust note caused by uneven firing of the engine. It's been quite common on larger engines, not so much on smaller ones. If you check and see that there's nothing mechanically wrong, then it's just noise and you can safely ignore it.

If the engines are erratic at low RPM, please make sure that they are well-broken-in and properly-tuned. If all else fails, an on-board glow plug battery that comes on at low throttle settings is a certain cure.
