I took the carb apart to clean it and after running it I noticed the mixture control needle was missing tho I know it was in. It is a 2b carb with # 22481628 needle. The pic shows no o ring or groove for one. What holds it in? does the head rub inside the nut? sure could use some help as buying a new one is not going to help it stay in

The idle mixture screw is retained by a spring that's on the nut:
OSMG9072 22481420 THRTL LVRNUT #2CAF60 US$3.99
That's the nut with the spring.
