Pet Opossum
Im looking to get a Virginia opossum as a pet, there are breeders out there, but they are very hard to find (for obvious reasons) ive heard that these little guys are quite smart, and have dispositions between a cat, a dog and a ferrite.
it would be a perfect pet as im leaving in a year or two and will not be able to bring any animal with, and thier life span is only 2 years on average. plus ive always wanted one.
i'll keep this page updated in case i happen to find one.

Good luck with it! I guess my only thing with animals like that is I hear they can have issues with human transmissible worms. I know with raccoons, wild ones at least, they have lots of issues with worms and dangerous stuff like that. I only know this from rehabbing squirrels and being attacked and no doctors visit needed

Around here they are "furbearing" animals, special rules and permits apply as most are trapped not hunted as they are primarily nocternal. My neighbor has 2.78 acres of scrub timber, he gets them from time to time, mainly only see them as roadkill.

about the worm thing, they can carry worms, however thats usually only when they are wild cought, i don't want to get a wild cought, and as a extra measure, im going to get it de-wormed.
funny enough, if you have a cat chances are it has worms that are passible, but the chances of infection are rare.
the permit is $25

Small hamsters have the same life span. They average 2, maximum 3 years and are quite inexpensive. But hey, it's your choice. Go with what you want and enjoy. Do they need a litter box or can you put them on a leash and walk them so they do their business?

they naturally will learn to use a litter box, and they can learn how to walk on a leash or be tied up outside.
they are also clean animals and dont reak like ferrits, they groom themselves like cats.
still looking for one.
