Watching the slo-mo it appears as if the car itself WAS detonated, unless they had the larger blasting unit right against it. IMO it was not buried, either, the "crater" was not severe enough for that.

The crater looks like generally what would be from a explosion from above the surface (like C4 on a firestorm)
If I was him I would have painted the SD card neon yellow or re-wired the camera so the SD card would have had over 10 feet of distance between it and the camera
