Default PIC Thread, TURBO LS1 Trans Am that has stolen focus

Schizz, I've been so busy that I really didn't realize until tonight that this forum existed.

Now that there is a somewhat appropriate place, here is the buildup that is taking all focus. I bought an '01 Trans Am, LS1, 6-speed car, and 14K miles on the clock with dreams of a forced induction buildup. It is becoming a reality. Some of the long term goals include 650+ rear-wheel HP on pump gas and a non-crazy amount of boost. I am hoping to clear 700 rear-wheel at 15-17 pounds and race gas.

Here is the car that is getting worked, as of now it has 17x11" ZR1s on the back and 9" on the front. Other than the Hooker cat-back, it's bone stock. The car made 303 rear-wheel HP bone-stock 2 weekends ago on a Dynojet dyno.

Here is some of the stuff that has been taking up my living room. The heads are new Corvette Z06 (LS6) heads. The fuel injectors pictured are 60lb/hr Mototrons. The turbo is a 76mm unit, 76GTS. Those back tires are large... 315/35s

The turbo kit comes from PTK or "Pro Turbo Systems".... the parts are gorgeous, the quality is top-shelf. Here are some pics of the kit spread out in the living room:

Dynotune brand Wideband A/F guage and fuel pressure guage

Well its one thing to hear people saying what they are going to do to their car... but its a different situation when YOU already have all/most of the product and in pics. Thats a LOT of plumbing for that turbo system you are hookin up. I am glad to see Comp and crane cams products there.

Are those Pacesetter headers?

Where are the driveline parts? I highly doubt you dont have a tranny built for it yet... let alone a driveshaft, rear end etc.

The headers are hand made, stainless and ceramic coated. They were made by PTK as part of the kit. The kit is completely piped all the way back to the cat-back pipe.

Driveline: the final frontier.... sorry for the corniness, I'm cleaning it up. The Textralia clutch is rated at 1000 fly-wheel HP. A custom housed 9" rear with a locker&setup, for 4ch usage (yes I'm keeping trac control and ABS), with matching custom driveshaft is about $4500 by the time it's all said and done. There is a guy in the car club I'm in going 10.40s @ 133ish on the stock 6 speed (with a spec clutch) and stock rear-end with no weight reduction. Seeing this, I'm gonna hold out until spring/summer for the rear end. It won't see the track before then anyway. I have the $$$ on hand for a Viper 6spd with aftermarket hardened input/output shafts if I end up needing it unfortunately early.

My posting has been slack, in the last 6 months, new RCs: 2 3D foamies (gifts), Eclipse 7ch radio, HB LSP with COll32, R40 w/18TZ.

quad...actually for the money he's putting into this thing, he could easily have a low 12 second Powerchoke or Cummins. that's not the point.

Are those Pacesetter headers?
all those big money items you see in those pics, and you think he's gonna run a pair of $179 wal mart special headers?

Pacesetters are cheaper and tend to flow a LOT better than other headers. We dropped them on a 351 windsor, woke that truck right up. Good past experiences with Pacesetter stuck us with them. I dont know what your problem is with everything, sure beats the value and flow compared to a borla or flowmaster setup. Flowmaster is all noise, and some power.

You know, the reason car manufacturers make so many kinds of vehicles is to try to meet the needs and desires of all people. We don't all want or need a "disel" (sic) truck regardless of the cost.

When posting a large number of pictures, let's remember that there are still a lot of people who have dial-up connections. I have broadband it still take a good while to load all these pictures. Upload the files to RCU so that the thumbnails are displayed rather than linking to the full size images.

Haha apparently he is racin it some if he has speeds and times listed, I don't think a turbo diesel would cut it for that lol, although at the open saturday nights at the track by me I have seen some there.

That is gonna be a sic trans am by the way.

Has anyone bought a Crate Camaro yet? Between the firebird and the camaro... way too many of them. Now they have that crate 69 camaro... where is the 69 corvette? I'm waiting for the day they come up with a 69 crate corvette.

Mind if i ask how much you have dropped down (cash) in performance parts?

I have no idea exactly how much is here, nor do I have any desire to come face to face with an actual figure.

I can tell you that this kit is the highest flowing kit for the LS1 and F-body that retains A/C. It also routes ALL piping OVER the K member so there are no clearance issues, even if lowered. It takes 6-8 months or more after you buy the kit to get it (made by hand!!). I had it easy, a guy I met spent the money and timeto buy it, and changed his mind by the time he got it all. I got about a $1200-1400 break from what he paid.

uhhh.... this is a VERY expensive 'project'; there is nearly $2000 in the fuel system alone.

Someone asked for video..... believe that there will be more than you care to watch.

Thanks for looking guys.

The car will stay a street car. It has full interior, A/C, power EVERYTHING, T-tops, and a real stereo. The 6 speed was picked for driveability as well. It has zero weight reduction, so it'll probably weigh in at 4000lbs; pig. The only weight reduction will be the removal of the back seats (useless once the 6pt. rollbar is in anyway) and the spare tire/jack. I want 10s and high drivability; these are design parameters.

Some things not shown:
eBoost boost electronic boost controller
progressive methanol kit (didn't think I'd chance 14lbs of boost on pump gas with just the intercooler did ya?)
60lb mototron injectors
Racetronix pump setup
