Default Short vid of some robots running @ work

A friend came out to the R&D area where I work last week and took some video with his digital camera. Because of this, the video isn't the best, but it's still kinda neat. I edited the clips and made up these small vids. These are all FANUC robots. My company builds robotic work cells.

The 2 six-axis robots running in the first two clips are moving around at about 35%-40% of the speed they will run once in production. You can see me in the background of one of the clips...

The last clip is of a six axis robot on a linear track (so really 7 I suppose) that will handle different types of extruded aluminum. In the video it is running at about 20%-25% of normal produciton speed. A co-worker of mine is working on this project...

It was just something to do with the video; I was bored. If you have anything but dialup, get the first video. The first vid is 34MB and the second video is 8MB.

34MB video

8MB video

Either a Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or an Associate's degree in electronics and experience.

We buy the robots. We spec and setup their associated controls and I/O, make the end tool, and program them. We build all of the work cell that is around them. The work cell has a 32 bit controller also and a touch screen interface that allows operator control of the cell and robots.

Haha... that was one of our other controls engineers. He knows where it was going; he programmed it. Otherwise I would not advise such.

Yeah the cell is it's work area. Law requires it to be fenced off for operation; thus the name.

I'm not going to be specific, but the first two that are in the same cell handle, case-pack, handle pallets, and palletize packaged healthcare items. The large robot handles large pieces of extruded aluminum.

Those robots are pretty cool! Their motion is so fluid, it makes me want to build something similar. I used to work as a contractor at a GM/Toyota plant and the robotics there are incredible. The latest that I came in contact with were transporting racks of parts around the plant along these lines on the floor. They cruise along by themselves and play music whenever they are in motion. Really awesome automation.
