55 is plenty even during the day on a snowmobile! Are you really going to go much faster? If you are, wow you're insane! lol

I hope you don't think you're 'really' up north. Look directly west and you will see where Dead Man is from. You are no further north than he is.

If I owned a snowmobile and I was drunk I'd try to outrun a snow mountie.

Most of todays sleds can run 100+MPH, way too fast for nighttime running even on a big lake. I used to have a snowmobile so I know that drinking and driving them isn't a good idea. I kept mine at my parents home which is at a lake and with a bar nearby. In the winter there were always snowmobiles parked up there. We had plenty of trials also to run on. Alcohol and driving anything doesn't mix and sleds are no different. Speeds on snow-goers can be enforced just like boats and PWC's, all they have to do is get your registration number and hit you with a radar gun.
Anyway, 55 is plenty fast enough to go at night as your visibility sure isn't as good as it is during the daytime. Obstacles can pop up on you fast enough at slower speeds whether driving on a lake, trail or roadside. How many decapitations have you heard of because of driving too fast at night and hitting a wire or something else? I've heard of enough. Think about that the next time you're out flying around in an unknown area.

yeah like this winter over break from from school i went up to the Telemark Lodge and went snomobieling there

mosty just drove around on the lake and some on the trails

the lake is messed up like there litle like shards of ice and rough stuff every where so i was all tiping over and stuff

the worst one i had was when i hit a piece of ice that was formed like a jump

and i was going a good 60 mph + so natuarly i bailed and broke my arm and leg along with the rental
my ski-doo wasent working at the time along with my Artic Cat or what ever

I think 55 is a reasonable speed, but ya how are they going to enforce it?

i used to live in minnesota, drove snowmobiles often and i cant tell you that if they posted a snomobile speed limit i would follow it. Thats what those sleds are for, going fast, if you dont feel comfortable goin that fast then dont.
