Can you use any receiver as long as you have the right crystal in it? Say I have a futaba remote and a hitech receiver with a 68 crystal would it work properly? Also what's the best cupon for tower if your going to spend 100 dollars?

I hear Futaba and other brand reciever's aren't very "friendly" with each other (heard.) In theory it should work, 016BP I found it on one of those "cupon sites" and it had a 50% acceptance rating so it may or may not work for you (worth a shot though.) Well, I just got 2 new toys to play around with free . One is some Kyosho car and the other is a TTR Phoenix GT. Both need some work but have radio's.... [8D]. Kyosho on the right, TTR on the left. The engines were all gummy with old fuel but ive cleaned them out and HOPE they still work. The kyosho is wierd, it doesn't seem to have any brakes but it does have reverse (go figure).

I like it (what's not to like) except the small shocks!! If I get one, I'd put on some aftermarket shock towers and run 4" shocks all around!!

Ok just so we are clear on the Rx issue.

AM - you should be able to use any manufacturer's crystal.
FM - JR/KO are positive shift. Futaba/Hitec are negative shift. If it's single conversion you should be able to change crystals that on the same shift.. BUT if you have PCM/Dual conversion systems. I would only use the stock crystals. They are not alwasy interchangeable.
2.4GHZ - Only OEM Rx and only air to air and ground to ground. Except JR/Spektrum which are the same company. Nomadio can use the very first Spektrum ground Rx.

Just the first SR3000. I don't know it'll work on anything else.

Right. So I want more offset on my E-Sav wheels, and have a minor conundrum. So I will turn to the respectable masses in The Lounge to offer their $.02 (or GBP .02).

So...I currently have 14mm alum clamp hexes on the truck - I love clamps, cuz it really annoys me when I'm taking a wheel off, and it's a bit stuck, so I pull, and the thing pops off, the hex falls, and the pin goes flying. Or I take the wheel off, and it's just easier not to have to pull that pin out and set it aside when I work on the truck (so it won't fall out on its own). In short, I like the clamps.

I also want to keep my HPI GT tires, and stick with Maximizer beadlocks. The only offset 14mm Maximizer beadlock option seems to be the X-75, but I'm not sold on the looks:
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...6&I=LXNWP2&P=K

My other option is to go with a 17mm Maximizer that looks nice, but I'd need to get 17mm hexes. They don't make 17mm clampers though, that I know of.
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...6&I=LXNWR1&P=K

What to do, what to do? Is the X-75 so hideous that I should just forget my clamp obsession and get the 17mms?

Discuss!

Eman, take a look at this page..

http://www.junfac.com/shop/index.php...=index&cPath=7

See if you can find a combination of widener that would work w/ your wheels of choice...

You can run 12mm clamp hex, and do a 12 to 17mm widener.. for example..

Of if there's 23mm wheels that you can use.. then you can do the 14mm to 23mm setup..

Go with 17mm. I don't trust the 14mm hex with the power you'll be out putting.

LB - yeah, I considered an adapter, but am afraid that would be sort of a weak link or put stress somewhere else? Not sure. Plus I think I'd rather save cost than go that route.

Secretsg - I was thinking that too. Lots of Savage guys went 17mm w/more power, perhaps that will answer my question for me.

Sure Eman, if you can avoid the widener, I'd avoid it.. but just saying that's another way of attacking the issues.. and some "adaptor" are not widener.. they are just adaptors.. So that shouldn't add more stress to your C-hub, steering knuckles, etc.

Understood. I was also misusing the term "adapter", my bad.

I think I'll just go 17mm, and stop whining over not being able to use my nice shiny purple alum 14mm clamp hexes. *sigh* *whine*

So........which 17mm "adapter" to use? I'm leaning towards HPI (not sure about those "composite" ones' durability):

Awesome.

Now who's giving me $200 in Tower gift cards? Eh? Eh?

Seriously though, thanks folks. I like bouncing ideas off of the group now and again, to see if others are thinking what I'm thinking, confirming suspicions of mine, etc. It helps.

I was thinking that with brushless power, the metal clamps would hold up better.

I agree.

I just want too much stuff. Someone send me $$.

Heck, I still want you to paint a new Durga body for me Auto, but it's just way low on the priority list since I dove into the E-savage BL project and am over budget.
