Default Adding a V8

I have a 2003 ZR2 Blazer with the standared 6 cylinder 4.3L and I got to thinking about taking that out and putting the beasty V8

so exactly how much time and money would it take to do this?

I cant do it myself so I may have to take it to a shop which would probabbly cost more then a new engine it self, new or used, or I know a few people that might have the know how to do it for me for free

Get a Vett crate engine.. 5000$ lol...

But ya, You can get an nice v8 crate engine for around 1500$-3000$ + all your wires, drive shafts, heavy duty brakes, reinforce frame and maybe front/rear end, It will take alot of money and time and PATIENCE lol.. Because you just can't drop a V8 like that into a vehicle without doing some extra work.

Brother just droped a really nice 305 crate into his S10...and oh my god...hauls arse BIG TIME.. but yet..lots of money and time//

Just do some research on google, E-bay always helps with pricing and you may even find something decent there.

2003 then a crate 350 will bolt to the 4L60.. Get a conversion set of motor mounts go to a electric fan only and there you go. 4.3 and 350 have same bolt patterns. Not cheap though unless you could do it you self. At a "shop" depending on where you live the smog crap comes into play then it is no longer worth it.

well, no matter what you do to that blazer, a powerstroke (aka a REAL truck) will tow you around all day like its nothing hahaha i'm just kidding, gotta stir up the chevy guys. anyways, don't forget to consider your driveline, the truck's not really built for a ton of power (reliably) without a good going over first. v8 swaps are no fun unless you get to beat on 'em. and breaking things gets old quick if its a daily driver.

We don't care about that stuff outside of Cal. I took all the cats off my F150.

Its going to be cheaper and WAY easier to sell your nice Blazer and go buy what you want. You will never get the thousands and thousands of dollars back, the labor and the hassle for the car. It will devalue your truck too, since your potential buyer list goes from everyone looking for an SUV to just a handful of hod rod guys.

I have been down this road many times and modded many cars. In the end, I lost a lot of money and time, the end product wasn't as good as what I started with (more problematic), and I walked away kind of disappointed. Many car guys will agree with this. Any good you get will be canceled by the ungood stuff.

2 Rules-

1. If it aint broke, don't fix it.
2. See rule one.
3. When you see gas prices skyrocketing, do stuff for BETTER mileage, NOT LOWER mileage.

just thought it would be fun but now thinking about it i would rather lift it and put on a new K&N intake with a magnaflow 44
