Default Electric street bike

Ok, this is way off topic but hear me out. I was wondering how to go about making an electric motorcycle. Not a little cheap pit bike but taking a sport bike frame and converting it totally to electric. The only thing is where do I start??? What would I need and about how much? I was thinking this would make a killer project. Could I get a parts list and has anyone done this before?

I was thinking this would be similar to an electric truck without a radio am I wrong? I was thinking of making an electric car but that would not be as much fun! Budget is not a problem. I will jump that bridge if I can get some plans.[8D]

To stay on topic I might have to throw on a radio. Please, mods don't burn me!

are you asking about
a 1:1 bike
or an rc one?

if it's rc, there is a forum
a little ways up for rc bikes

for 1:1
hmmmmm, don't know

somewhere i read about one
that had two electric motors
one in each wheel
and batteries
where a standard engine goes

First of all, this will cost several thousand dollars if you want to end up with something somewhat nice. I would start by researching until you can answer all your questions yourself, that means looking for info rather than asking for it.

A highly modded scooter with Lipo's and a big outrunner would be cool too? Same thing on a smaller (cheaper) level.

Dont even try it, as im sure you will give up on it after a little while. If you want top notch electric transportaion look up the Goped Hoverboard, google or blackle it. www.blackle.com

just did a youtube search
if you're mechanically inclined
you can convert a 1:1 bike
to electric
for about $2000 in parts

results are not
to me
that impressive
acceleration and top speed are
gearing dependant - duh
so can be quite good

but
charge time and range
make them seem a bit
impracticle
at least for the
backyard
variety

but the project is
most certainly dooable
with out a lot of exotic
tools or knowledge

Yes, that would be 1:1. I am going to research this and see if its possible. I am going for a sport bike with a 50-150 mile range at 70-80 mph. I think that it would be sweet to be able to hop on it and fly to the store.

it's absolutely possible
but your hopes for
distance and speed
will probably have to be
compromised some

what i was seeing
is 40mph -65mph
an 25 - 50"ish" miles on a charge

again
it all depends on gearing

but the biggest thing is
your imagination and
your level of fabricating skills

Lipos would work best. If you don't like them I believe the next runners up are a123's.

Remember that more volts are better. More volts=less amps=happy batteries.
