How is a Savage not a toy? all my RC cars are toys...my real cars have all been toys...motorcycles, dirtbikes...ALL toys. it's a toy, regardless of what our younger members may try to tell themselves

TBH, if she wants you to give up RC...stash the Savage in a closet, and buy a 1:1 project car. See how long she puts up with prices for THOSE parts...

As far as pythonfan's comment goes...most women aren't like that...my RC habit wasn't a problem with my ex, but my spending on it was (among other things)
After I mentioned the -no exaggeration - 150 pairs of shoes she had...it quit being an issue

I am divorced twice!! I'm 35 and i can't get enough of playing with my toys. My wife supports this hobby 100%. I even bought her an R/C truck. Just tell your G/F that it's a stress releiver playing with the R/C's.

Well my ex girlfriend used to say the same thing when I bought my son his Savage X. I would go with him and have fun. He doesn't like to do that so much now because he rather play with his friends and good old Playstation. But I still take him out and bash once in a while and have a great time. I would hit the track with my trucks and she would complaint. She used to put me down in front of her friends saying I like to play with toy cars. I always said " I'd like to see you drive one and then you can talk crap". She would say that they are also expensive but wait a min I never complained about the amounts of shoes and purses she bought. 150 pairs of shoes I'd say is about right too. A price of a Coach, Louis Vuitton and Gucci bags can add up really quick. Heck when she realized that one purse = 2 Savage X trucks she stop talking really quick. Plus I always use the excuse " Wouldn't you rather have me play with these toy cars instead of going to the bar with my friends and talk to other girls?". Since she wouldn't support it is why now she is an EX. My girl now supports me and she even drives with me. She will even pit for me when I'm racing so its all good. Don't let anyone ever tell you that you are too old. Some tracks even have the above 45 yrs old main so older drivers can compete so what does that tell you. You're never too old!

After reading all these post I had one of those great ideas or maybe not. Sit down with her and tell her your problem with loving these things and how much you would love to make her happy as well by giving them up, so you posted this on the forum and here is what some of the guys are giving me for advice. I dont know what your relationship is like, but it should give you both a nice laugh and maybe if shes serious about you giving up this hobby, she will then understand its not for little kids, in fact alot of older guys are into it too. If anything this hobby might help you learn more about your significant other, being for the better or worse[sm=75_75.gif]

I alway's tell my wife well it's either my toys or with nothing to occupy my mind I'd prolly take out the better part of the westside of town Rambo style or I'd maybe start drinking and chasing women, that usually stops her in her tracks with an about face.

nice, nice comebacks guys. i am 26 and only been in the hobby for two or so years. like budbud i got escorted off a high class golf course in the middle of the night.....mine was by the police helicopter light beam(California...so dramatic). you cant get too old for r/c its a hobby not a playtoy. my wife says i spend too much time wrenching on them and the blind splurge spending at the LHS worries her. just keep at it without neglecting your relationship. i have a request to be buried with my savage.
