If you mouse is a trackball type, you MUST take out the ball and pick out the sweat residue out of the contact points and most of all on the rolloers and or on the windshield that covers the optical light.
If you mouse is a conventional, with ball on the table, remove the ball and clean the rollers, sweat residue builds up there too. If you mouse is a conventional optical, definitely clean the optical window in the bottom.
As for a track ball, sweat residue from your hands and fingers will gum it up BADLY, especially during the warmer seasons (like summer). And sweat, when it residues, is not pretty (it looks pretty bad built up on the cotact points and/or rollers inide the mouse). I have ruined I cannot remember how many trackball mice by not caring for them properly.

Im not sure, but from what I understand, it is a real mouse turned into a 'puter mouse
I would link the site, but unfortunately, there are links in that sitre that are inappropriate. The guys in there claim that it is a real mouse. Squeek! Squeek!

I really like this one

Thackball mice are extremly ergonomic. The one above is really expensive, but ease of use of the mouse is literally 10X more precise for me. I love trackball mice.
Here is a more affordable one, but just as ergonomic:

I'll admit, when I first tried to use a trackball mouse, it sucked. It took me awhile to get used to it. But after messing with it for about an hour or two and playing an online RTS, I got pretty good at it fast.

Logitech trackballs were my first trackball mouse. They are great, and for the price of like as little as $20.
Once you get used to trackball mice, you will literally frown upn conventional mice
