So this is a bit of a bind....I've been rebuilding my E-Savage shocks, and have stalled completely. Am waiting on Green Slime to come into my LHS, along with a few clear silicone o-rings. No biggie.

But, one of my shock shafts is dramatically shorter than the other 7. The 7 are about 94mm end to end, threaded on one end, and slotted for 2 e-clips on the other (see sample pic of the style I mean).

The 8th is in the 60-ish mm range, and threaded on both ends. In fact, the piston/disc was held in place improperly, and was flapping around loose inside the shock body. Nice. The thing is, these are purple alum threaded shocks w/purple bodies - the HPI alum ones are grey-bodied, so these are not it. I have no clue what brand of shocks these are.

I emailed the guy I bought the truck from (most of you know him) just to ask, never heard back. This was quite a few days ago. Knowing would help with my parts search.

Here's what's a bummer - I'm having a heck of a time finding a 94mm shock shaft. They all seem way shorter, if they list length at all. I went to my LHS (which stocks HPI Nitro Savage parts), found jack squat. He looked online (Tower) for/with me, we found squat. Is 94mm that obscenely long that no one uses it? I would have to guess not.

Anyway, I'm a bit bummed. I found some slightly longer ones (84mm or so) to maybe get me by, but I don't know if that will just mess it all up. Wish I knew the make/part # of shocks I have.

Wow I just watched the worst movie in existence. Watchmen was a horrible movie that just dragged on with no real point and was lame and had a horrible story on top of that. 2/10 (and they killed the best character to)

Bummer on the shocks eman. To bad you don't have a mini lathe to turn your own out with.... Maybe they are from a different car or (just throwing some stuff out there). Well hope to pick up the wheel nuts for my car by this saturday, get some more fuel flowing through the motor. RC10 sits, and sits, can't decide what to do with it [&:][:@]

94mm is quite long. It's more likely from an 1/8th scale rear shock or aftermarket manufacturer. Maybe give integy a call and see if it's their MSR4 shock shaft?

Really? I liked it. Did you read it beforehand or after? Or not at all?

Granted, there were a few things I would have done differently, but I didn't feel it was the huge letdown everyone else thought it was.

You know, I was thinking MSR4 for some reason as well, in my searching. Funny you brought it up too. I've found MSR4 shock shafts online, but listings don't tell the darned length. I'll have to dig some more I guess. I honestly dont' care where I get it from, as long as the length is right and it has the e-clip notches.

Calvino - for your RC10, here's what I think. Get a Novak XRS used from ebay for a decent price, slap in a 19T brushed motor, and have at it. If you have the old 6 gear tranny, just stick with that for now and enjoy it. It's a tough, fun buggy - might as well enjoy it.

Eman, it is crazy that one of the shock shafts just float inside the shock body... (being so short) So strange.. definitely not the way to go!! Hope you find the replacement soon..

I thought those are standard nitro Savvy items.. you shouldn't have problem finding the replacement, no?!?!

Not these ones - not std nitro Sav shocks that I can tell. Really just have no idea, hence the problem. I think the different nitro Savvys have diff lengths too - at least one version of the nitro Sav uses 84mm (too short). Others are different. Weird.

Google's not helping, and most shock shaft listings I find are either too short, or just don't specify length (only say, "for MSR4", for example). Nice.

It's driving me nuts. I've already started emailing some online stores asking exactly how long a given shaft is for a specific item.

If I had the $$, I'd just ditch 'em and get the std sized HPI purple alum ones w/grey bodies, so they're the proper shock length for an E-Sav anyway. But that's not cheap.

I LOVED that movie. It has come up as #2 on my favorite movies list! (right after Forrest Gump, and right before Saving Private Ryan.

It is not bad, although I am not sure if I'd go that far as #2 on the all time list, hee!

For Eastwood movies, I'd take Unforgiven over it!!

Thanks. Those look like my shocks (minus the spacer at the bottom). Still having fun finding parts for that discontinued item, though. Erg.
