I think he cooked his engine. Probably ran 3 tanks of fuel and forget to let it cool down.
I dont think you can continusly run tank after tank. It can be hard on it, because they run for 30mins.
So if he ran 3 tanks of fuel that's 1 1/2 hours of continuous running.[&o]

Nope. 5 mins of running did it in. The previous owner hacked the thing together. The motor mounts would constantly come loose and screw up everything. The gearing was probably too high for the massive wheels and the smallest motor. And I have no idea how old the motor is. When I brought it over to me it was way under power and smelled real bad. It was smoking and just died. I tried to start it later but no good. The FG is going to be put on the bench until I get the funds to fix it. It needs a new motor, alloy engine mounts, all new hardware, gear carrier and low end gears. It was fun while it lasted but its going to have to sit for quite awhile.

ordered [link=http://www.gamestop.com/accessories/sharkoon-x-tatic-true-51-dolby-digital-surround-sound-gaming-headset/84306]these[/link] last night along with a black dsi. should be here tuesday. hope didnt overpay, but as long as they are notably better than my sony mdr v150's i will be a happy camper. heck, i'd be happy if they are the same quality speakers (although 4 of them in each side) with a better headband.

Tried starting the FG this morning and it worked. Woo. But I still should get new gears and alloy mounts.

yeah, i wasnt even really looking for headphones, i was just looking around the site and came across them. i bought them because i damaged my cheap-o v150's ($20 at walmart) and was intersted in both a better set of headphones and a surround sound. i googled them and ign did a review of them and they spoke highly of them (and they are not afraid to insult products), so i bit. the reviews seem to indicate they are equal to a decent quality budget (~$300) home theater-in-a-box as far as sound goes.

Now I remember why I never run my 5th scale. The prices are stupid for hopups + replacements. I think I'll run mine more when I become a millionaire.

Who needs cold air induction?!
haha... Yeah I've never been a fan of the "cold air intake" since the air here is almost always cold, relatively speaking.

I destroy my Stampede spur gear roughly every other run... To the point where now I keep 2 or 3 on me at all times. They're cheap, less than lunch at a fast food joint, but still it's annoying to have to replace them so often.

Not sure why I always ruin them. I set my pinion/spur spacing using the classic dollar bill method, clutch isn't too tight (actually a bit looser than stock), and I threadlock the motor screws to prevent back-out. None of my other cars have this problem, not even the Dark Impact, which is 4WD and doesn't even have a slipper.

so your one non-tamiya 1/10 spur keeps stripping... coincidence? i think not.

i'd swap it for a RR spur. i have only stripped those when i was being an idiot or forgot to set the mesh right.

Yeah I should probably just buy a non-Traxxas one, that's most likely my problem.

It's funny because the overall design of their cars isn't bad, it's more like the quality of the basic parts that compose them.

It will cost more but tried a Delrin spur gear? I work with the stuff all the time and it is pretty good in my opinion for gears. OR are you running 32P gears, those are near indestructible

Made a couple hundred dollar gamble on my Sherline 4th axis today to make it fit 1/2" stock and low and behold, it paid off . Now im a lil bummed though that they make the silly thing from mild steel... ooh well it still works [8D]

You might be having some binding in the drivetrain. I raced my slash for 2 years with an almost tightened fully slipper and never stripped one.
