Default Header Wrap

Is there anything one can spray over header wrap to keep it from fraying and getting wet? Could I spray it with regular Hi-Temp paint?

I believe so. I remember reading some threads about it quite some time ago. (Not here obviously) The suggestion seems to be hi-temperature silicone paint.

Check these out, they might have what you seek:

Beware, NASIOC can be a little insane at times. Okay, a lot. [&:]

The only stuff actually advertised to work on header wrap is made by DEI. The DEI site states it is silicone based and that it needs to bake to fully seal. The stuff I picked up at the auto parts store says its "Highly Durable Silicone Resin" and lists the same baking requirements. I think I'm just going to try it.

Good luck. Also what are you putting this on? (Car, dirtbike, ATV, etc.)

ATV. Its a 450 so the header gets a little hot. By little I mean the bend will glow red hot. I'm trying to cut down on the amount of heat that blows past my legs when the rad fan kicks in.

The wrap won't fray if you do it right, unless stuff is scraping it while riding. You gotta wrap it tight, tight, tight! Take the header off to do it right.
