Default language question! Engine --> Motor

Hi!

I wonder what the difference is between a engine and a motor?. I have noticed when watching tv that a motorcycle has a motor, but on a rc plane its called engine?
a English -- Swedish dictionary said it was the same thing....

More things i found.. a boat has a motor but in a car its called engine???

electric motor and gasoline engine? why?

thanks in advance.

all I know, you won't call the electric thingy an engine. Get another dictionary.

I have always been told if it burns a fuel and has pistons, a piston, or a rotor in as in a rotory engine, it is and engine. If it runs on electricity it is a motor.

Engine is almost a subset of motor, so people can call an engine a motor. The electrics belong to the motor family but not the engine subset. I said almost because there're jets and I've never heard someone says "jet motor".
