Can I install the planes from AFP expansion pack Vol 1 into AFPD?

All of of the AFP Expansion pack aircraft are already built into AFP Deluxe for you!

All AFP planes work for Deluxe however.

Thanks for getting back to me. But none of the powered gliders in AFP can be found in AFPD, I think I read somewhere that the downloads for AFP will work with AFPD but when I open and compare the two aircraft files they look completely different.

Yes, you can load in any of your old planes from AFP into the aircraft directory of the new AFPD program. I copied lots of my old planes over and they all work great.
