Good radio for GWS Park Flyer
A lot of people swear by the Hitec 3 channel transmitter as it's designed specifically for "park flyer" use giving you the three channels (rudder/aileron, elevator and throttle) that you need. However it depends whether you plan to stick with simple planes and just want to dip a toe in the water (and not spend too much money on a Tx) or whether you plan to go on to bigger and better things. In that case a three channel might be a bit limiting because as soon as you trade up to a plane with ailerons you could well find yourself wanting 4, 5, 6 or more channels and lots of different "mixes". In which case it makes more sense to start out with a "computer radio" with 6+ channels.

What Cliff said re a more capabel xmitter is true, but something you will need to consider when flying something like the Beaver, are the size, and more importantly the weight, of the servos, and reciver. I have one of the Hitec 3 channels, and love it. I also have a computer radio. With the computer radio you can buy extra receivers and servos and have multiple planes on one xmitter. You can do this with a non computer radio also, but unless youset all your planes up the same it will be interesting at best.
I guess the question can be best answered with another question or two:
Do you plan on having more than one plane flyable at a time? If so a computer radio may be more economical in the long run.
Do you plan on flying with a group pf people? If so you will need a dual conversion receiver. The single conversion Feather receiver from Hitec is a great receiver, IF there aren't more than a few xmitters on at a given time.
DO you plan on sticking with park fliers? If so then the Hitec Focus 3 channel will be somewhat limiting, unless you plan on getting another radio.
If you are just starting and are unsure if this is for you, then the easiest route will probably be the HItec 3 channel Focus. The nicest thing about this radio is that you can customize it at your local hobby shop. You can get the servos you want, and it comes with a small receiver. I think I got mine with HS 81s ( too large for this plane, the 55s would be a great choice, and are what I use in this type of plane) and it was less than $90.
You should be able to get the plane there too. If not, check out just about any of the etailers or do a google search.
