Question UMX Turbo Timber ESC replacement question

Hi all. Hopefully this is a simple question.
I bought a used UMX TT a few months ago. In the process of binding and setting up my transmitter, I managed to release the magic smoke from the receiver/ESC. No big deal, I'll just replace it. Not so fast.
According to the manual there are two difference ESC/receivers for the TT depending on when it was manufactured. Using the incorrect one will render the flap servo non functional. Having bought it used, I have no idea when it was built. Horizon Hobbies has been marginally helpful, but just keeps pointing me to the later board without explaining why.
I removed the receiver from the plane and the only part number is for the actual plane (EFLU6950V1) not the ESC/receiver (should be EFLA6421BL or BLA). There does appear to be a label with a date code (20190723) on it though. Does anyone know if I am interpreting that correctly? The change cut off for the "new" receiver is 12/21, so I would guess I have the "old" version.
Thanks in advance for any input.
