Default Sig Bristol Scout

Just got one of these at a swap meet. All set to go less motor, gears and radio. I understand this plane is stock powered with a 180 geared motor. I'm thinking a 280 or 300 motor geared to about 12 oz thrust with about 25 to 30 mph prop speed would be fun in my windy area.

Anybody have experience repowering these or similar biplanes? How about one of those tiny outrunners or geared tiny brushless?

Any comments or suggestions appreciated.

Randy

Default RE: Sig Bristol Scout

I just finished putting together my Bristol Scout and I was wondering if you thought the rudder needed some work before first flight. I thought the way you hinged it, with scotch tape and for only that short span, that it would not hold up even for one flight. It seems to torque a bit when moved. I don't have my radio gear installed yet, so I have some time for improvement to the plane. I generaly was not to impressed with this model. Any hint appreciated. Randy
