It could be a bad crystal but I would make sure that the receiver is on the right shift for your transmitter.

Try using a receiver battery and pull out the ESC cable so you are only testing the elevator and rudder (or aileron) servos. Perhaps the BEC on the ESC is bad.

Good luck!

I found out that for JR only the 9 channel Rx's use Dual Conversion crystals after being sold 1 at the LHS they ordered for me and it didn't work. I got a single conversion crystal and it's been fine since. I figured the LHS would get me the right type of crystal since I told them exactly what it was going into. Nope Danny at JR/Horizon Hobby knew exactly what it was.

its not the esc because i checked that on my good reciever for my gas plane. so im hoping its the crystal, and i want to know something, GWS suggested a 7.2 volt battery, im using a 8.4 volt but i am using a watt age 10 a speed controller. could the battery have killed the other reciever or the crystal?

are you conecting the battery straight to the reciever or through the esc?
if its thro the esc it should be fine
but if its straight into the reciever i think you may have burned it out
im not sure if the gws reciever can hadle it i know the cheapo 3 ch no name will burn out right away if u put over 6 volts in em
