First step with any repower package. Meter it to check amp drawl.
Very high KV motor, means lots of speed, not a lot of torque.
May need to step down prop to something like a 5X3

hey can I be tech ass III? LOL... look out boys there's anothah mainah on the loose here..
skyd, sounds like you have some AA nimh battery packs with that kind of mah numbers.. they're not going to handle the load well at all-- too much internal resistance in AA cells.. if they are subC cells they'll be quite heavy for the plane.. although IR is loads better..
yah need 2/3A cells for the kind of amps you'll be drawing.. you can get them at most battery retailers online.. look for 10C rated packs at minimum .. some are up to 15C ... that's what you want..
where in Maine? maybe I'll do a fly-by...

those sound like TX battery packs, and probably aren't very high in C rating. They will probably get very hot and not last long in a plane..
the same place builds nice packs with their own cells. Go to the "custom packs" section and build a brick pack with 2/3 CBP1100 cells... the 2/3A packs aren't large capacity MAH packs but they are as good as your gonna get without spending lipo money...
before I went to lipo I was getting 8, 9, and 10 cell brick packs from them.. good batteries, good service..
