Default slow stick gear box

I flew my ss today and was doing good. No wind when I started, I was about 30' up and it took a nose dive straight into the ground. [sm=confused.gif] I tried to pull it out but it would not respond. I think a slight wind gust got it because of how it went in. Any way the gear box broke in half. Anyone know where the best place to get parts for the ss on the internet is. Right now got to have a gear box. Sure I will need more parts later.

Forget that. Get a himax aluminum gear box for $25 with an APC prop and you'll have a bullet proof setup.

You need the one on the bottom.

Looks great, but what is the weight? Also does my 400 motor fit or do i have to buy one of theirs for $75.00? Never seen these before. Have you used it?

Judging from the description it's for 370 only. The only difference between the 2 is that one uses the prop adapter to use with APC props and the other you can use with GWS props.

Measure your motor, I bet its a 24mm. If it is, this will work.

I seem to be going through gear shafts rather frequently. Just today I was flying and I accidently angled her into the ground. Was at maybe 1/4th throttle since I was going into the wind. I broke the prop (new gear box so I hadn't cut the shaft to use the prop saver) and when I look at the shaft it was bent at like a 45* angle. I already bought the MPI gearbox and a couple extra shafts. This normal for the stock gearbox and shaft?

I broke a couple. But yes the shafts are very easily bent. That himax setup has a hardened shaft and will accept APC props which are alot tougher than the gws ones. BTW, I bought this setup last week and it sits the 300 and 350 motors like a glove. No way this thing is gonna break! The thing about the gws shafts is that they stick out too far making bending them much easier. The himax unit comes with a threaded gws shaft but thier tech guy said that if you cut it just before the threads and add thier prop adapter it will use the APC prop with no problem.

That's what I was hoping that it has a hardened shaft. Breaking a prop every now and again I can live with, bending the shaft often is different.

Yeah, I know that story! The shafts are cheap enough its just having to change it out, especially that stinkin e-clip! I'd be out for 2 minutes and bend the darn shaft then spend 15 minutes replacing it!

I broke alot of props and bent a shaft. Then I switched to the GWS $1.50 propsaver. Works great.
