Default RE: Rudders??

You don't necessarily need to use the rudder to fly a conventional 4 channel plane, although it is helpful for coordinated turns, 3D and to compensate for the P-factor on takeoff.. Some planes come with fixed rudders like the PZ P51, and they fly just fine. I know some people that think the rudder is only useful because it's attached to the nose gear, or tail wheel. If you are only use to aileron-elevator flight, than you could fly like that and slowly start trying out the rudder to see how affect the plane.
