Default sky scooter help

hey i bought the sky scooter pro 2 about 2 years ago and just started to use it again... i am planing to put landing gear on it (the plan is already heavy, from all the glue), and i want a new motor. i want one that can really push the plane to its limits, right now i have a apc 9x6 modified folding prop with a 3:1 gear box (standard w\ the sky scooter) and a 400 motor. any suggestion for a new motor, thanks

PM15,
I once put a MEGA 16-15 - 6 turn brushless direct drive with an APC 8x6e prop. Ran her for awhile with just 1600mah, NiMh shack packs, limiting WOT to 10 - 15 seconds. It was a big boost in performance. Preformance increased again when I went to LiPos. Beware, if you go to brushless power, you WILL need to reinforce the wing. It WILL fold. It turned my mild mannered park flyer into an aerobatic performer. But still retained all of the slow flying stability that made the scooter so fun. Good luck playing with your scooter. I had a blast with mine.

I think you can get a motor / ESC combo for a good price at dynamo electric. Also try allerc.com.

The difference is night and day! Yes, it's a bigger out lay of cash, but in this case, you get what you pay for, and you're paying for performance, and getting it. Good luck.

Crrraaaaap, today I nosed my Sky Scooter staight down at full speed, miraculously no damage at all anywhere on the plane except the prop shaft broke,
has anyone tried to replace the prop shaft with their own cut rod from like Home Depot, I just don't want to buy a whole new gearbox when the shaft look like it should not be that hard to make, well guess I'll go to home depot tomorrow to see if I can get the correct size rod to cut to size.

let me know if anyone has a suggestion.
