burned speed controler
this is what was going on. i got the easystar runing a greatplanes 8.4 400 motor, stock prop 8 cell 1100 mah 2/3a cell pack with a gws 480 speed controler. the speed controler was rated at 15A with 25A max. everything was all set and ready to go, and i lost contol of the throttle. i tuched the speedo and it burned me, and it was smoking too. what speed controler should i get next? any ideas of how many amps i was pulling or how i am able to find out without getting a watt meter?
will there be any problem if i get a 30 amp contoler, i dont want to fry another speed controler. i was looking at gws or the konronic sun 3000.are they any good?

I had that same thing happen to me before with a gws speed controller, odd. I was running a 320 motor on a six-cell Ni-Mh. Based on these two experiences how about not looking at a gws speed controller. Get a speed controller from a company that is known for their electric equipment and aprts

RE: burned speed controler
I went with this after my stock ESC starting getting really hot, which was a 15 amp. Have not even had the slightest bit of heat from it and I am running a SPEED 480 motor w/ a 7 cell 1000mah pack, and I can't stay off full throttle so it has been tested. It has a constant at 30 amp and a max at 45 amp, and is not too pricey.
