In all honesty you should skip BOTH planes.
There are many choices out there that give both rudder AND elevator control. Keeping them under 30 inches isn't easy but it can be done.
Is price a consideration? Or simply size? If you don't mind spending a little extra, the Global Wattage Cessna 180 is a three-channel plane that's an absolute blast to fly, has excellent electronics (27 mhz, but use standard servos), and fits your size requirements. It's a very stable, docile beginner's plane that flies very well.
