Default Mountain Models Flashback

I just finished a Mountain Models Flashback model and am really impressed by the kit and the accuracy of the laser cutting and the CAD plans. It even looks neat!! It weighs 20 oz. has an 8 cell battery, Jeti ESC, geared Graupner 400 motor, 2.3 to 1 gearbox and 9x5 prop. Since it's 8 degrees outside and the wind just blew my car over, I haven't tried to fly it yet. One thing I did learn is that somehow my hands must have swelled! I used to fly peanut scale rubber jobs but now I can barely get inside the fuselage on this thing to install the electronics. I saw pictures of some of the people flying at the N.E.A.T. meet last fall that destroyed any feelings of self worth that I still had. One guy flew a peanut (13" w.s.) airplane that was full house-rudder, elevator, ailerons, motor control. I think they've discovered a way to shrink themselves to build like that...

Bob, There were two issues with the Flashback that I didn't like so I set that design aside. The problems were that the landing gear can twist out of alignment and that the motor mount can break off too easily in a crash.

I just finished redesigning the Switchback to incorporate some design ideas I had with the MiniFlash so my next order of business is to correct the deficiencies with the Flashback design and also roll some new ideas into it. I hope to have this kit ready for the San Diego MWE.

If you'd like, I can send you the new kit when it's ready so that you have the latest design.

Hey, Doug,
I sure would appreciate that and I'm looking forward to the temperature at least getting above zero so I can see how my airplane flies!! I'm certainly a believer in your designs!!
