Need Help - Fighterbird Wing shim
I am new to RC airplanes. And I have bought a fighterbird. There is a white wing shim in my kit. I know its a wing shim and assume the name explains where to use it but the question I have is. What are the affects on the handling of the possible locations to put it.
i.e. if i put it at the back of the main wing, what will it change in my handling. And where else can I put it and what will it change putting it there.
Last, is this shim recommended to be used for beginners.
I appreciate any and all responses.
Thanks in advance

I believe it is there to be placed under the trailing edge of the wing, raising it. This allows the bird to fly a bit faster rather than climb so much. I made a similar piece for my Outlaw, I like it much better that way.
I'd fly it stock until you get comfortable with it, then add the shim.

Instead of the plastic shim provided....use a piece of sheet balsa approx 4 inches long by quarter inch wide. Attach it using tape of any sort to the bottom of your wing trailing edge. This does 2 things. First...it makes the a/c penetrate better in wind. (Mine flies fine in 20 pmph). Second...it provides a better support for rubber bandfs & stops prop from gouging wing on bad landings. I also do same balsa thing to TOP of leading edge of wing. Try it.
