Parkzone smoking engine, will it still work?
When I landed my Focke-Wulf 190 and forgot to throttle back- when I got to the plane, the engine was smoking.
I let it sit for a few minutes to cool off, and then tried it again, and it seemed to work well- good pressure, but it had a weird burnt smell to it.
I let it sit overnight and tried it this morning, and it seems to be working fine- the burnt smell is almost gone.
Should I trust this engine? It *seems* to be working fine now, but will it conk out on me in mid flight?
Thoughts would be much appreciated even if they are pontifications!

There is no way to tell short of taking the motor apart and inspecting it. You may have a winding close to burned through and the vibration and heat caused from flight may burn it the rest of the way, who knows? Safest way and what I recommend is take the motor apart, inpect for burned or blackened resin on the windings.

I'd keep flying, but fly high enough and upwind so if you do lose the motor you can fly it back and try to deadstick land it. Of course, if a short in the motor burns out your ESC, you'll also lose power to the RX and will have no control. It's only a foamie, so if it does cause a crash it's probably just some glue or at worst a new fuse... (famous last words). On the other hand, if you can get the motor apart you could inspect it more closely. How much is a new motor for a FW-190, anyway? About $10? Ah, choices!

Downunderdog, I totally agree. Cheaper, less hassle to just pick up a new motor, which I'll likely do. I'm not going to chance it with this one- I'd rather be safe than sorry!

Hah! Maybe, maybe ...
I gave er a whirl, and sadly, it just didn't have the umpf it used to. Still works, but its like its guts have been taken out. Just not as strong as it was. Oh well! Another $10 down the hole!
