I expect it will be costly. I would have to have it sent to me in care of Hodges Hobbies of Americus GA to get it Thursday (ship Monday by UPS 3-day?). Let me know and I will decide if it is worth it. Thanks for the quick reply. Louie

Guys,
The NEU motors are 1.14" diameter per their web site, that is just under 29mm.

louierc,
What is the KV of your NEU motor and how many cells are you going to run it on and what size prop, battery, ESC?

Gryphon - flew today (until the mount gave out) with Neu 1110 + Hacker ESC + APC 6x5.5 on 3S - a nice mild hop-up, no big weight gain. I went fast enough to have the ailerons flutter, so that's another project. We radared it in the 90s straight and level before it all came unglued. I had to rework the mount to squeeze the Neu in (29 mm) and it ultimately failed. Chewed up a small place in the wing. 52 amps, 550 watts on 45C TP, no heatsink required, only minor foam mods to get the Hacker ESC/SBEC in.

Thanks louierc,
Do you know the KV of your 1110 series motor? Type of winding and number of turns can tell us the same, so that works just as good, such as 2.5Y or 2D etc....
ESC limit of AMPs?
Capacity of TP cells?
Gryphon

I'll be going at least 1-2 days and or 1 night it all depends on the weather of course. I'll shoot video this year. If your planning to go I would love to meet up and the event. PM me as event gets closer.
I do have a pilot from the club to demo my Stryker. If I can get it built. I can use the current one if I have too as it's the same design almost.

I was lucky when I moved here in 85...didn't discover rc and Joe Nall until 2002 I think. It's amazing. the site is amazing. Just think about 800+ of your best friends all in 1 place and all of you have the same passion for rc....I can't wait.

Hey guys!
I'm starting my custom Darkside build and I have Gryphon helping me out with the Mega motor. We are looking at 140+mph on this build. It's my secod Stryker, but my first one to clear 100mph.
I'm hoping to recruit some help on the build from you guys. Could someone help me out with servo selection as well as th elevons? I'm pretty sure I need balsa, but I've never used it and have no idea how to attach them to the foam.
Thanks ahead of time guys!

Any more hints you willing to share? I noticed NEU is selling overstock of 1509-2Y and 2.5Y at only $110. Will that get me into the 150 club?
In that left pic, the batteries are pushed way forward. My Stryker runs a 3S-5000 on a Mega 16/25/2, APC7x5E. And I have to shove them as far aft as possible to maintain CG. Are you gonna fly that bird with the batteries in that position?

About the second picture: So you're making a Stryker biplan? Or you're re-inforcing the wing by fyberglassing TWO Strykers together?
P.S.: I also like the fact that they are simply laying down on the big RED accident report folder....

The 6 cell 5000 battery setup will stay right there for flights. No room for them anywhere else.
That brick of an ESC is getting in the way, I might need the ICE Light 200 instead.
There will be LOTS of weight in the back, my CG usually runs real far forward on these builds, after all, these are NOT for slow and low, and will be flown in a field thats well into 1000 yards long.
The NEU motors will get you into the 150 club, my little 1115/2.5D and 1115/3D have both been over 150, and those are only 28mm cans.

RE: Official F27 Stryker Part 8: Beginners to Custom Darkness
Hello everyone,
I am new to the forum but have been following the Darkside for a while. I am deeply interested in the Stryker and what you can do with a couple of tweeks. My last setup has produce 120mph+. In my journey to 120mph+ I have learned an awful lot about cf and the Stryker airframe.
I am currently running:
ARC 28/47/1.5
Pheonix ice 100 esc
6x4 apc prop
Custom rc motor mount
hitech hs82mg servos
Turnigy 4s 3300mah 30c
I am about to purchase several Turnigy 4s 5000mah 40c lipos and am looking for a motor to push me past the 120mph mark. Possibly to 150mph.My first thought was to go to the 36mm ARC but don't know much about the specifics electronic attributeson the electricmotors and how they interact with each other to produce such speeds without over heating or burning up. I am realitively new to the electric side but am hooked. I love the speed.
I have been reading and am familiar with some of the callsigns in the forum and their expertise. Can anyone suggest a motor and or setup that would help me along to 150mph mark.
Please work with me and help me out while I add to my knowledge of the Darkside.
Cheers,
Crookedwing

RE: Official F27 Stryker Part 8: Beginners to Custom Darkness
CrookedWing,
Read Post # 1236 on previous page.
Hopefully your charger can handle 5S, 6S.
You can buy a pack with similar weight and price and power capability as 4S-5000 40C
5S equivalent:
5000mAH X 4S / 5S = 4000 mAH 5S
6S equivalent:
5000mAH X 4S / 6S = 3333 mAH 6S
The above batteries are good enough for 150 MPH....but the 6S is the match for your ESC.
That will allow you to run your ICE 100A on 6S.
To make the same high power on 4S, your ESC can not be used....and a higher AMP ESC will cost you a bunch more.
I will have data from MEGA 16/40/2.5R in about 3-4 weeks, it is being built now...along with 2 other even lower KV 16/40 series.
The 16/40/2.5R is spoken for already.....for 7" prop operations.
_____________________________
If you want APC Pylon 6.5" series, then you can discuss with Mopar about which motor......
(He might need a few days before replying…busy time of year for him).
You can go to other cheap motors...many are junk, at least aim for 5mm shafts so they don’t bend....As weights go up shafts bend easily......easiest shaft to bend: ARC 28mm motors.
To make up for quality and lack of power in other brands you can go to larger and larger, heavier and heavier motors.
Good luck
Gryphon

Welcome Crookedwing.
It seems like you will want to be staying with 4 cells.............right ?
Gryphon hinted for you to consider 5 or 6 cells due to his very justified concerns over your ESC on 4 cells with your goals in mind.
The ICE 100 has been pushed VERY hard, and keeps asking for more, but I dont know if I would really trust it running all of the time with 150+ amp setups, which yours will be at if you want 150 mph and will stay on 4 cells.
OK, decision time before we can help out further..............
Will you be staying with 4 cells, or are more cell batteries on the horizon for you ?????
PS..............those 4s5000 batts will allow your current setup to go faster !!!!
Expect close to 100 amps on batts that can deliver.

Agreed. The bigger cells can increase the speed of your current setup by 5MPH to 10 MPH on high side.
Any more prop size and that ARC motor will burn down as shown by many.
