trying to decide which one,, I had 2 fd sticks both lasted about as long as the motors held up which is all I expect from a $40 plane,, no complaints really...I need something for the schoolyard up the street, the flying field is 23 miles away ,,...Rog

those are actually the 2 planes i love the most. the tiger can be flown in a much smaller area, but not in much wind. i have flown the e-starter in pretty heavy wind (maybe 10-15 mph) without much problem but it's better to have alot more space with it. its faster and flies great inverted. if you fly the tiger in winds more than maybe 5mph, itll keep you on your toes and its not as much fun. i would say get both. (i swap electronics from plane to plane). that way, if its too windy for the tiger you may still be able to fly the e, but if its calm and youre feeling really lazy, the tiger is very relaxing.

THe Moth is a whole lot of fun to cruise around with.
I'll take it out to the flying field and pull it out after I'm done flying my glows and do touch-n-goes within the length of our 300 foot runway.

Get both! Since you already had the slow flyers I would go with the EStarter and learn aileron. If you want, you could fly it without ailerons too. Definitely get the Moth later though. It's one of my favorite planes to fly, it's just too bad it's not always as calm so I can't fly it that often.

Just put my Tiger Moth together today and it made it's maiden voyage this afternoon,man I like this thing nice and slow plus it looks good flying by. The only problem I had is I lost a wheel rubber and now I am having unsafe rolling.

I have them both.
I bought the E-Starter first.
But, I LOVE my Tiger Moth. I can fly around (at 4am) in my cul-de-sac.
I also have an ME-109 that I haven't flown yet (just crashed it....hehe).

Since I lost one of my tires I looked around the house for a replacement and came up with the idea of using a couple of o-rings I had. They are a lot bigger and look good too. I did go ahead and glue them on with ca.

The EDF version of the Islander should be pretty cool but I'm waiting for the DC-3.
Hope your ES comes soon, it's a great plane along with all the other GWS products.

I have a Tiger Moth, and just recently installed an IPS dual motor in it, and it is an entirely different plane. I really enjoy flying this bird. For such a simple design, it does really well. I frequently have 10-15mph winds in the evenings, and I couldn't have ever thought about flying the Tiger Moth with the stock motor. With the IPS dual motor, it flies no problem. I even had it doing consecutive loops. I almost folded the wings, due to flying too fast, but it survived I am going to see if I can install some sort of wires to the struts in hopes to help make the wings more stable.

The TM is a great plane, I have a second one in the box that will be the detailed plane. You can get balsa cabanes from All E RC. It'll really stiffen up the wings and support it much better.

Ah! excelent. I have needed a new cowl for a while as well. Thanks for the link! This will make the TM even better.
I am in the process of putting together my new Wattage Super Decathlon. I can't wait to get that one up in the air as well. Should be fun.

excelent. Thanks for the tip. I have my stock struts epoxied on to the wing, so I'm not sure how I could swap to the balsa struts.

Do all of the above to the Moth, Definetly do the flying wires, they will tighten up your loops and make it handle a little more wind. My buddy did his wing to wing and now has trouble removing the wing for repairs. I did mine from top front cabane to bottom front strut, top front strut to the rear screw of the cabane, makes it easier to slip the wing over the tail feathers when you need to remove them. Every thing is glued except the ones that go to the screw.
Note the key word, need, I never take mine apart.

Thanks for all the info. Like you, I rarely have to take the wings off to do anything to the TM. I've only crashed it a few times, and those were due to radio glitches, which caused me to go nose first into the ground. Other then the cowl, and a few busted props, my TM is still in great shape. Of course, now that I said this, my next flight will probably end in a fire completely destroying the TM and leaving nothing but the control wires.
