Simple Question, please help
This might be a silly question, but it has got me thinking ??
I am starting to gt all my stuff together for my 1st parkflyer ( and trying to do it right ) My 1st plane is the GWS E-Starter, I'll be using a 3cell E-Tec 1200 for power and a CC pixie20p ESC. Here is my question. It states in the manual to use 7.2 - 8.4 volt battery I am using well over that will the ESC protect the stock motor (EPS-350C) from being damaged due to the higher voltage, and if so how does it do it ?? Thanks I read alot, but I need this put in simple terms..I just don't get it !?! :eek: |

No, your ESC won't protect your motor. At 11v, don't expect your motor to last more than 10 flights. I ran a EPS300 at 9.6v, and got an average of 20 flights per motor. That's when I gave in and went brushless.

Really, Hmmm well that is not good news... so would it be wise to start off with a lower voltage pack, say a 2 cell 7.4 volt Lipoly pack
I am looking at brushless in the future but not on my 1st plane, My thinking was off on the battery packs. good thing I own two 7.4 volt packs to start with. thanks |

Use the 7.4v packs. S300's aren't real happy at over about 75 watts. Prop it for around 8 amps.

I have a S-350, I did some digging and found out it can be done, by changing the prop, according to GWS web site there EPS's can take the higher voltage, so I see what happens for now ..

Cant the prop be changed to handle it? Im running 11.1 lypol's on my SS with a 1049 GWS prop with no probs.
Anyone know a chart showing prop pulls? |

Yep it's the amps that cause the problem. Since amp draw rises with volts, you can see why people have problems going to higher volts.
If you prop for around 5-7 amps, you should get some reasonable life out of the motor. Jason |

according to the GWS charts I should be pretty safe you can find them here: http://www.gws.com.tw/english/produc...owersystem.htm just select what you have, at what voltage and you'll see the amp draw that best suits.. very good info |
