http://www.micro-flight.com MIA Radio Control Micro Trike. World's first miniature true RC Ultralight weight Microlight Trike. Similar to ultraleves, deltaplanos, powered hang gliders.

Back in the 80's 90's I had started with a similar design, an 8ft wing trike made from fiberglass tubing, aluminum, wooden shaped battens, and rip-stop nylon wing (Attached photo-green model). It had all the complex cable rigging and even a working control bar linked to an original kung-fu grip GI-Joe pilot. It was powered by an USA made Astro-Flight motor with an, also USA made, Joe Utasi ESC, Futaba servos and receiver and a monster of a Ni-CAD! battery pack. WOW we are so spoiled with today's battery technology! and many people really don't appreciate this.

I sold the wing back around 2000, to make room for other designs. Photos are on my sites.

I feel sorry now, that I sold that trike. It would have been great to have retrofit it with a modern day BL motor and Li-Pol battery setup.

This MIA Micro Trike is nothing new, but a memory that was waiting to be made real in smaller scale. If you have been watching my other videos you can see my other wings have been simpler, and I am for this approach simply because I don't like to put too much time into a model that really doesn't need to be complex. Also, by no means the model trike needs to be heavy to fully effect weight shift control, proof in this model. It is more a matter of careful geometry, aerodynamic design, good mechanics and control setup.

Most but not all the models I design are relative to the space surrounding me, I don't have a lot of time to spend a whole day at a flying club or field so I design and build them smaller than the average trainer size 40, 60 airplane so that I can SAFELY, and EASILY fly them around the backyard cul-de-sac schoolyard, small park, anytime, and or travel with the model easier.

Making the model extremely crash-proof, is an art in itself, and it is not necessarily making parts in metal. I eat, breath and sleep with this day in and day out, since I design original kits and aftermarket parts for a living, but most of all, because I am myself, the customer looking for Performance, Durability and Realistic Appearance, trademark characteristics of MIA Micro-FLIGHT.

Thanks, I appreciate your comment and the 5 stars. It is intertesting how things turn out when you approach them from an entrepreneurial spirit, even though most of the time I am just sharing the cool things people can do with their models.

Allright, Gohmer, but you do know that the Hobby King Ultra-Light "imaginary pilots" speak only Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese, okay) but Mario's Ultra Light imaginary pilots speak both English andItalian. They are bilingual and they fly with elan-stylehttp://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...y/msn/cool.gif.The Chinese-not so muchhttp://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...sn/biggrin.gif.
Maybe try a side-by-side Ultra light shoot-out. My money's on Mario's bird.
edited 'cause RCU type program does not register two typed "dash" marks, which is the Standard for the "dash" in typing (so, instead of registering even one dash, we get words jammed together like sardines).

Small Area Flying Low and Slow MIA EEE-ZEE (TM) RC TRIKE MICROLIGHT ULTRALIGHT

As the years go by, living here in AZ, USA seems that winters get colder and colder, but eventually some days are actually calm enough to enjoy an evening's RC Trike Flight with a micro version of what I am calling, the MIA EEE-ZEE Trike.

This is not the MIA Robo Trike, but a simple version based highly on MIA's 2009, Roto-Trike but without the tail fins and a different sail.

GOD, my family and people that work with me directly, only know the countless sail designs Ive done in search of various performance characteristics. It is my passion and my job as leading RC Trike Kit manufacturer to understand and know well.

As real Trikes have to be done, the sail is probably the most important part of a Trike, in real or model form, and so my work in designing these models is no different than the work of real Trike manufacturers. In some cases, I believe, more involved, because as we get things in smaller order, they get a bit more laborious and tedious to work with. Nevertheless, my job as an RC Trike Kit manufacturer is to make things simple for the end user. Ahh, but I prefer to be a hobbiest first and foremost as without this fun there is no fun!.

Here is a change of pace video, done with a keychain camera modified with my own lens and held in my mouth to get the front shots without much fuzz. Late evening light does not help with the keychain cameras, but it was one way to get a quick video in the spur of the moment. I am puting together another video done with a higher end camera.

These models are more fun in real form than in videos, and I honestly think you have to have an acquired taste for RC Trikes to honestly enjoy them to the fullest, like one acquires a taste for a fine wine.

Some variations of the MIA Eee-Zee (TM) Trike built from Kit, I've been flying around for a while.
The Pilot is a full 3D gifure now but sometimes I like fying it wih the profile one, keeps the microlight model very lightweight.
I've been hesistant to put too many details into it because a heavy metal frame trike, especially, does not fly with the easy and crash-resistance
as a lighter one the MIA EZ types, w/o all the bells and whistles. Still the MIA EZ Trikes fly very realistic as can be seen rhough the countless videos I[ve done with it
on my you tube channel.

This is the latest video I did with the MIA EZ 2.0 Trike. The largest one so far after the original green ripstop nylon sail one I built back in the 80's.

I don't like to complicate designs unnecessarily and so this is as simple as it gets without compromising realistic performance and aesthetics. The Pilot head
is simply connected to the left-right directional via mixing on the transmitter so to do away with a separate channel, works to my satisfaction.

This is one is fully ribbed. A number of MIA tricks learned from experience were employed in the construction of the wing to provide the doscile and super slow flying capabilities while allowing the wing also to perform in tight and steep turms.

natural progression now is it mario?
Still have got enough common decency to mention you used my wing design to make your 'worlds first and most realistic microlight'
Progression is developing a model and seing it evolve,
Your model didnt evolve it did a total 'u' turn after I made my maiden flight with mine, within a week aswell!
And after you ran the design down on rc groups stating It was too heavy to fly and weightshift not being efficient in larger models and how you 'smile when people run into the same problems you did'

I never gave up on my design though I worked hard to make it successful , then you come along and stole all my ideas.
Wing fin and floating keel, battens, back to a realistic shape from a high aspect ratio 'condor' even the steering system was the same even though youve now disguised that fact by adding your robot pilot (turning heads there though)

my design helped you massively to acheive what youve been trying to do for 20 odd years and the fact you can lie about this is very low and against all common decency!
Its also not the first time is it mario?
On rc groups a well respected autogyro guy guessed your name just by me mentioning what 'a guy had done with my design' you did the same to him and a few others.

does anyone need any more proof than that?

I would add pics of this 'natural mia progression' but he'd only threaten to sue me again

I know you will never give me the credit I deserve in your design but I told you you wouldnt get away with it mario and if you wont tell people im going to make sure I do.

MIA Original From ground up 1:4 Scale RC Microlight Pilot

1 Attachment(s)
1:4 Scale RC Microlight Pilot
But designed for other RC models in its specific scale.

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/atta...mentid=1996840
Introduction

Ever since I started designing RC microlights more than 20 years ago, as a result of not finding a model to my liking, my goal has been to make everything from scratch including the pilot body, flight suit, helmet, accessories, control panel and all other sorts of goodies.
Most of my life has been involved in Models of some sort and it is not by accident I enjoy making all sorts of RC stuff.
In the many years I've been involved with RC models I've also had a hard time trying to find a pilot figure not only to the scale I like my models in but also with a degree of elegantcy.
There are some very nice pilot figure models I came across from a source here and there but they are more geared at war replica airplane pilot figures and not modern day civil sport planes and aircraft.

The Way I make my Own Designs
My approach to My Own Design Projects, typically start with a rough sketch of what I want to make and from there it goes through a metamorphosis of 2D to 3D cad design models, to some rough physical prototypes and finally a 3D model that I can take to my CNC machine and sculpt it with a great degree of accuracy. For those who are familiar with making models in 3D and machining them, you'll appreciate that it is not an easy process. Requires a lot of patience and if you are meticulous about it, it can take a long time. But I really enjoy this type of work, and It normally takes me 3 tries before I am finally happy with the end result. This photo is the result of close to 24 pilot prototypes, including various bodies, and accessories in various scales and having a ball with when I get a chance to play with them.

About the Pilot Flight Suit

The pilot suit was done from real ideal human man proportions and scaled to the size desired, then measurements taken to form the flight suit. It was 3 flight suits I'd sewn before I got the hang of it, and then it was perfecting the flight suit as well as the boots and gloves patterns.
My Mom had a masters degree in Fashion Design with an impeccable eye and skill for fitting and making clothing for people who had less than perfect bodies, but when done they looked like a million dollars. I remember watching her do patterns from scratch and became familiar with sewing equipment and its process at my early age. But even with this luxury, it was quite a challenge getting the pilot flight suit, not to mention the boots and gloves perfected. I am still tweaking them here and there. I wished I had paid a little more attention when she was around, it would have made making the flight suit sewing, especially in the crotch and arms area easier. This is where a well sewn garment separates from another.

About the Pilot Boots and Gloves

There are so many ways one can "mimic" the look of the gloves as well as the boots, in fact for an enclosed rc microlight model , you really don't need to show the feet, but my RC microlights are mostly open cockpit, larger than GI-Joe size, and I like my pilot to show off its body in full detail, not just something that looks the part from far away.
I started playing with various shoe patterns and sleeves but most of the ones I tried first were to simple, I was trying to make it easier, then gave up and decided if I wanted the boots to look right I had to do a lot more work and this required more pieces to meticulously sew and assemble. I did a list of things I did not want in a miniature RC microlight pilot boot and by process of elimination I arrived at the "subtle squared toe" shape a favorite of mine since I remember buying my first pair of shoes and boots. This may not be exactly what real microlight pilots wear, but it looks great and complements the rest of the pilot accessories and I it is unique to my own design rc model. The same process with the Gloves.

The Pilot Body

Sometime years back I had started to make poseable lightweight pilot bodies for my own design RC trikes, ultralights, helicopters and autogyros, but it has been one of those things that I am never done with and something always to make better. I do prefer a full animatronics robo pilot body that can control the model directly " truelly realistic" and not the other way around. It is simpler to have a limp pilot body or suit filled with minimal shaping material and loosely held to the model control bar to simulate the action of steering. I had done this with some earlier pilot bodies, as most rc enthusiasts start this way, but I wanted the pilot body to have the option to be stuffed or with a fully mechanically articulated skeleton as in some of my robo trikes "microlights", ultralights, helicopters and autogyros.

The Pilot Face

Sculpted from oven curable clay, skin color and painted. I modeled the face from a random selection of male faces, but am trying to decide if pehaps he should be not as serious, or may he should look mean so people don't mess with my RC Microlights http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEdi...es/emsmile.gif

The Complementing RC Microlight

The trike in the background is large but in proportion to the pilot. It was designed in larger scale to the 1.0 sizes I make in all sorts of RC models, so the look, parts, assembly process is all methodically the same and some may just have recognized already the details in the way I make rc models. The "orange sail" is a bit more elaborate than my earlier trike wing sails, and it has been done this way because on this size, at 1:4 scale, I can afford the extra details such as full set of battens, double sewn and reinforced wing. I learned a lot in designing my first trike back in the 80's, back then due to power limitations, equipment and battery technology my sails had lower shaping battens, but every one of my post designs in various sizes and forms of control, have been with the aim to perfect the design of the RC Microlight "for the intended application". Note that making one for oneself is not the same as making a model that others can build with the same degree of success, ease, and accuracy. Because designing models is also a full time job of mine, I tend to focus on the latter.
For those who have been following my RC Microlight projects as early as the 80s when I lived in Chicago" near Stanton Hobby, no internet back then", and maybe for those who were following all my early " RC Trike" postings on the internet as of 2000 when there were no RC Microlights (Trikes) on You Tube, or mentioned in any RC forums, this project will be no news.
Anyway this is just a sneak peek of the stuff I love to work on...and more of a personal fun project blog. More on this project as time permits...

I am hiring a lawyer so he can take care of the Libel statements you have made.

the truth?
Here it is again and I will keep digging. and you can"LYAO" as you mentioned in the other emails you are sending me because you are PO I am making better and better models. I don't expect respect from guys like you, you are a POS making libel statements. I am hated all over the world? LOL you are talking on behalf of world population? or your buddies who are in the UK and Australia the same guys who don't loose time to post videos of simillar models right after I post something new. Like you do you.

I know I can't sue for copying my Roto-Trike, King post, THAT WAS NOT THE POINT in the opther forum you also started to spread lies, and I was not the one that started with the "you copied my trike" you misinterpret things and twist them.

The luff lines white and blue trim sail, coincidentally? that got your rc microlight on the forums and You Tube map? and got you to learn RC trikes that you are now trying to profess, as your own, I doubt it.

And way before you had anything flying and I already had the Roto-Trike Flying, and of course all my previous stuff is now rubbish?, same material that you were analyzing when your model was only a wanna be RC trike with a gas engine that was so heavy and did not have the proper elements to make it fly and you were glued to my other threads to see how my trikes were flying perfect! in all forms!.

You won't tell that to everyone because ever since you got it to fly with what? King post, luff lines and going electric, you have build up momentum and you think you are king of the hill.

You knew I was busy at the time and not putting too much emphasis on the RC microlight that you thought you could sneak in the you tube and build video momentum with a trike that you got flying by using the same elements that 'unbelievably'! you accused me of stealing from you (Copies in file), in previous years and forum threads, elements which I originally had on my earlier trikes and all my videos and forum threads and post as well as my web site have shown since I started posting on RC trikes and Microlights.

You go spreading false rumors with your buddy the autogyro guy, who is PO that I have also developed a micro RC autogyro product that flies awesome!

Yes I love using descriptive words because I am sick of you and your buddy and I know that PO you guys, obviously.

Your nature in every single forum is to go and disrupt when you are not happy from pure envy that you cannot do the stuff i have done in more than 20 years.
You are stuck in a job that you probably don't like and wish you had the luxury of making products and models for a living FUN STUFF!
So now I am a fruit cake, typical response...

You make libel statements all over the internet. I think you are still too young and stupid to realize what that means. Look it up because it won't be long before you get served!

The Model that help you put yourself on the RC MIcrolight map. And you talk about human decency you snake. You still want to say you created the RC microlight you have on your own?
The one you disguised with a 3D puppet , a metal frame, increased the scale and added a canopy to make it look more real and give the illusion it was all your own, sure, after you discovered that without the king post and luff line and other things the model was simply not going to fly!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ratvDV2nCQ The Pilot Figure you are drooling with envy

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M6cjxzCPsiY and the one your buddy is also PO because it is the only and first micro RC Autogyro that flies better than anything similar out there!.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sTDGernNSI8 !
You and your buddy(s) combined could not come up with working new stuff as fast as I do, I have in the span of 20 years done more products probably than even some companies
with more resources. Not just RC microlights, but helis, ultralights, autogyrops and some that are not even on the map yet. I am sure you all discuss this, otherwise why would you pop in my threads every time I got something new, rocking!

No you are not going to stifle my work, you have tried in the past and I am still around, in fact I am so used to comments coming from guys like you,
this makes me even more pumped to continue to kick your A!s and you know I will!

A for the Libel statements I am taking care of that ! TRUST ON THAT !

but it was not the only model I had going on. You know that.

disguising the microlight now it flues properly does not mean you didnt copy mine

You know the funniest thing mario?
If you wouldnd of copied every little part of my design on your next microlight after my maiden went on youtube id never
have been sure enough to accuse you,
Id have had a feeling because of the sudden change from what you were working on for all them years but probably woukdnt of said anything.
you are that ignorant you copied almost every part down to the last details like the bend in the monopole
and am now disguising it and putting your own twist on it to hide this fact.

You used special effects on those few videos, so much that you couldnt really see much but could definately make out that it was remarkably similar to mine in almost every way!
You dont use these effects now that youve put your twist on it? Why is that??

1) You have said I copied your trike to the point of nauseam and you can't provide a detail single photo side by side of what it is that you claim I copied you.

2) Your Trike that you claim I copied you was making test flights barely in 2011 in the white and blue theme as the MIA Roto Trike was themed, that you were trying to make look, but bigger.

3) My MIA Roto-Trike, the one in the attached photo, again, in case you missed it. I am giving you illustrative proof!

A) Flew perfect in the video I posted in 2009, also posted here.
B) Yours was barely flying 2 years later

You have the audacity to call my post 2009 trikes, which are based on the same design principles as my MIA Roto -Trike further with real detail elements that are not yours nor mine but
from real trike details, a copy of yours that you finally made it work later in 2011?

You made your rc trike work later in 2011 because you had a lot of reference already as in the attached photo, you don't want to admit this for some reason, even though the proof is clear.
I've giving you photos and dates and facts, you are simply throwing a lot of words.

Now you have been making your trike look more realistic, kudos to you, but the fact still remains that your rc trike did not fly until you changed it to have the same elements
as my Roto-Trike did back in 2009 and like I have shown it to you on many occasions and you well know it, has not been the only trike I did with the same elements. What more do you want?

You want me to give you credit for something that you borrowed from me, in the first place, to make yours work and ever since you built up a little momentum on your videos, now you think you can
go claiming rights not only for the design but also for elements that are also on real trikes.

Should everyone else stop putting cameras on their models, and not include figures poseable or robotic.
The only innovative twist on my RC microlights is the MIA Robo-Pilot that I perfected from the original 80's, all on the internet.

I think you should be thank full that you have had a guy like me post as much as I have posted and got you thinking in the right direction.

Try to comprehend what is posted and not just skim over the words. BTW you should check your grammar, before calling someone ignorant. "woukdnt" it is "would not have".

Lmao! Mario hitting me where it hurts.. my grammar skills! Lol

by that picture youve just so kindly posted for me so that you cant threaten me with legal action and copyright
has just proved that when you used a realistic wing shape you also used a massive rudder on the back to get it to turn!
Is this true scale weightshift?!
Mine was, and with a larger heavier model that you had said was not possible when I was building mine!

So thanks for that proof I needed mario ill be back later to prove the exact point when you changed your whole design A WEEK after I finished mine and had a successful test flight!

Look forward to hearing more lies from you soon

Oh and mario that top right hand side microlight that you pictured of mine DID have a kingpost and cables and
flew beautifully :) take another pic and you will see them!!
There were four years between that one and the one you pictured before!

So your one with the rudder and 't' tail was the closest youd got to realistic wing design so keep making your false statements to make yourself feel better,
you're just incriminating yourself further...

RC Microlight - MIA EZ Trike 1.25 A - High Performance

The MIA EZ Trike 1.25 (Microlight) is the 2nd of 5 sizes under the MIA EZ Line as I mentioned in this EZ Gyro 1.0 Video.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sTDGernNSI8
Both my Gyros and Trike models are High Performance and beyond the typical DIY, Plan or commercial kit. They fly extremely well because the models incorporate parts also beyond the typical. You cannot get top performance from a model without investing the time to analyze the model with many parts that sometime start as experimental parts, but many are also designed on purpose to elevate the efficiency of the model. I am not talking motors or propellers, that is a given once you know some basics about power to weight ratios easy to select a power unit. I am talking wing , blade design.

For example, the blades on the MIA EZ 1.0 Autogyro have a unique MIA Airfoil designed and built into the tool that goes into an automatic machine which I also designed to spit out blades quick, consistent and professional. The process of making the MIA EZ Gyro blades follows very similar quality control process as high quality drums stick are made. Shape, weight, density, and balancing have to be carefully checked and done, it is tedious work but in order to produce an efficient set of blades you cannot avoid this process.

The wings of my latest High Performance RC trikes also incorporate MIA unique features and parts designed to take the most out of the particular wing, sail material etc. These HP topless strut braces flex wings, are more difficult to make than one that has a king post and cables.

Variable Geometry- Taking the RC Wing to a higher level

The Title statement on my latest video is to the best of my knowledge True.
This is the world's first RC Trike Microlight to employ a lot more than just a sail and supports to make it fly. Enter (VG) variable geometry.

I have spent countless hours studying real high performance trikes and coming up with many of my own mechanisms, parts, and testing them in RC models. Sometimes they don't work at all, but sometimes they do, especially when careful thought and analysis is placed on the subject.

I cannot tell you the countless sleepless nights and the amount of time just in testing I have spent perfecting this RC Microlight Art.

I'm only happy with my designs when they meet a certain high level of criteria and it is this drive that has placed my models ahead of many that are just beginning to skim the surface.

It has taken more than 20 years since I first built my first one to see these models really exploit the technology we have. Still, I feel these are slowly making their way into the RC realm, but sure enough they will be popular at some time in the future, just a gutt feeling.

Meantime I will keep promoting them for as along as I live since they have become a part of me as were the RC micro-helis back in early 2000's.

It's been a while since I took a flight photo, mainly because I am always videotaping. There is something especial about photos... they can speak things that we sometimes cannot describe.
Enjoy!

MIA EZ 1.25 Trike RC Microlight June 24, 2014

New Video. I added the white wheel covers. I had made the covers for a previous RC Ultralight heli project but they did not have the fins so I added them, last minute, for the EZ Trike. Still open cockpit because the on-board pilot is a full figure and I like it to show the legs and boots in some camera angles. The legs are attached to the steering and so they also moved with rudder control movement.

The area where this video was made is in the water retention basins 115 116 in Gilbert, AZ, it is not as close to red mountain park where I typically fly, but worth the trip to this field. A lot of open land and I can comfortably fly around with the added benefit the model can take-off and land on soft grass.

Day was breezy and I had adjusted the sail tip tension to provide a bit more drag so that the model would be more manageable in the wind.

I wasn't sure which photo to select for the cover of the video, so I took several, I am including here, because every one of them instills a certain viewing mood.

Enjoy!

Beach Fun Flights near LAX Airport - California - June 29, 2014

OK Finally had time to assemble this video. I had a lot of great beach flight footage but I wanted to keep the video short and sweet. So here it is.
My two daughters, now young women, the same who appear on the early photo of my 80's RC Microlight, at the time little girls, are on this video.
Unfortunately the Mobius camera does not have zoom, at least not yet, so I had to use the built in zoom feature of my video editing program
near the end of the video to get the model closer to my daughters who were near the water.

I had an awesome time flying this model and I don't think I am going to top this for a while.

The performance, as you can see it in the video, is phenomenal, considering there was a strong breeze.

I also flew the MIA EZ 1.0 Autogyro to fully top a fun filled day.

Enjoy!.

Date: July 23, 2015
Location: Falcon Hill - Mesa, Arizona

Done at sunset to capture the beauty of Arizona Skies and the Superb! Flight Performance and Relaxing Flight of the MIA EZ™ 1.25 1:6 scale Trike RC Microlight. Flight Times are typically longer with this model but it was edited a bit shorter. There is a also a "gentle loop!" done with the model somewhere near the middle of the video.

I have not posted here in a while so I thought I add some new interesting videos and photos.

A video of the MIA EZ™1.25 Trike RC Microlight, done in a parking lot. The succes I've had with this model is due to its lightweight "Electric Powered" design and my own control system I employed on this and the kits I've been selling for many years now via http://www.micro-flight.com.
