Default Omp 54 Yak Which Engine?

I GOT THE CALL TODAY THAT THEY ARE BEING SHIPPED THIS COMING WEEK (TUESDAY OR WENSDAY). I AM PONDERING A PUTTING A SAITO 100 OR YS 110 IN IT - I HAVE BOTH. THE PLANE SHOULD WEIGH BETWEEN 6 1/2 TO 7 LBS DEPENDING ON HOW LIGHT I BUILD. THE PROTO-TYPE HAD A OS 91FX IN IT. THE PLANE HAS A BIG WING 1200SQ 65" A LOT OF DRAG. I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE A 2:1 RATIO. THE SAITO 100 PUTS OUT ABOUT 11LBS WITH A APC 15X4W. THE PLANE WITH FUEL COULD EASLY WIEGH 7 1/2LBS . THE YS 110 WILL GIVE ME ABOUT 17 LBS OF THRUST WITH AN APC 17X6W AT 9400 RPM. I HAD IT ON A SYNERGY 90 3D A WIEGHING 7 1/2 LBS AND IT WAS GREAT. SO MAYBE I HAVE ANSWERED MY OWN QUESTION.

THIS PLANE HAS A BIG WING SO

I'll vote for the Saito because I have one on my Can Do 46. But I'm looking at a YS to go on my next project. Don't think you could go wrong with either.

I think they are shipping now. I just checked my credit card and it's on there. Can't wait! I have a ST G-90 laying around. I am going to try that first. If it's not enough I will get something else.

The Saito pulled my 7 lbs Showflyer around just fine, and plenty of power to spare. Should be more then enough.
I will put a Saito 100 GK on my Extreme Flight FF Edge 540 once finally in.

Do you think an irvine 72 with moose can would be enough. I hear they run very strong and are fairly light without the heavy stock muffler. I know where I can get one cheap.

The saito 100 will not be enough motor IMO. A fellow in the local posey flyers has one (It was at the nashville pro bro) with a OS 120 in the nose Balance was no problem and it has the right amount of pull. Saito 120 or YS 110 If I build one

I flew Jim's, the one smallfly spoke of, and it had enough power, but it wasn't any excess either. It would pull out of a hover pretty strong, but wouldn't jerk it up like I am used to. The airplane flies very well though. It will knife edge without any correction, and is very easy to hover. I will have to build one, someday soon. Until then I will just watch Jim's fly. He covered it like the one in the ad, and it does look awsome in a low knife edge with the canopy toward you.
