Default First crash in hover

Well a couple of days ago I was flying my new OMP 540. There was no wind really so I decided to hover lower than I have been. I was doing pretty good on some other hovers. It started to fall out so gave it full throttle and the correction needed to leave the hover but I didn't get it fast enough. It kept falling and then it hit. The corner of the wing and the front of the fuse went in. I was lucky I was practicing in some nice soft bean feild with the beans out of it. So there was no structural damage, just a whole in the wing which I repaired real quick. That sure is a heck of plane.

I agree, once you can keep it up, bring it down to the deck, you'll hover better and won't tear up the plane.

Play with the CG a bit. I have found that a little CG change can make a big difference in hover stbility. Usually to the aft.

ive been practising too, i do it with the tail about a foot off the ground, the worst i have done is broken the wing tips off when it falls over in the hang.

they were getting broken off so often i just leave them off now, you should see the state of them!!!!!!!!!

will post a pic of the wreck later

My omp is so beat from hovering, both wingtips are mashed, the monocote is wore off of the rudder from draggin the tail around. I'm afraid to fly it fast for fear of it discintigrating in mid air, best plane I've ever had.

heres my various Prophang/learning to TR damage i still use the orginial wing and it still takes full throttle blenders! the orginial fuz snapped after i fell out of a hang dead stick, but the fuz wood was wrong, the new one has survived all this also.
read it all on my website.
