Um, let me think for just a minute.... SLEDGE! The sledge has laser cut parts which in my opinion make the fuse construction a little easier. Althought the omp is a very easy build as well. And I think the sledge is a little better 3-d machine as it is easier in my opinion to get into stalled flight for harriers, and elevators and such. You couldn't go wrong with either plane but I would go with a sledge. Or you could do what I and several others have done, and get both.

Well I have both and it is hard for me to decide which one I like better.
By all means get both.
With lots of people switching to gas power it is easy to get a .46 glow engine. I just bought two from E-Bay for about $50.00 each. and if you search you can come up with radio gear.

The wing on the sledge is a little harder to build and the fuselage on the OMP is a little harder but neither is difficult.
The OMP requires much less elevator to harrier and flat spins better than the sledge. The sledge is a bit more stable in harrier and hovering but there both pretty good, you just cant go wrong either way.

The new OMP 47" Yak54 features a foam core fuselage and is way easier to build than the balsa built up version. The OMP Edge 540 will also be going foam core by next Spring making it easier and quicker to build.

The Sledge is a good trainer for learning to hover![8D]
But for all out 3d, go with the OMP Edge!
OMP 540 is definitely my favorite of the two! But both are great fliers!

That's why everybody needs one of each!! No one demographic will like everything about either, but if you have both there are no seams in the performance envelope.
In fact, I have to strain to keep from replying "BOTH!" everytime this question comes up!
IMHO both of these planes are so close to the perfect airframe, but each with enough difference to keep from being identical, that you really do need one of each just to be sure.

The OMP website with the new Yak 54 profile pictures and info is now up "www.ohiomodelplanes.com". We are finalizing the production of the CNC cut foam cores and once that's done they will be available very quickly. My guess is by the end of Jan easy!

Yes to all the above Jeff. Plus I'll be in Louisville over the holidays. I tell you though what I'm missing out on is all this electric hoopla! I'm really jealous of everyone having a ball with the new electric fun flys. Soon I'm going to have to take a break and jump into that and spend more money on all the goodies. I'd join you down in Lousiville for indoor flying but I have no electric stuff other than my really cool GWS A-10 Warthog.......yes I love the hawgs!

Mike, let me know when you will be here in Louisville. We can try to get together and fly indoors or out. You can fly my foamies indoors if you like. Email me at [email protected] when you will be around.
